Honoured to have a little bit of my art on it, which I painted last year at his dad Ken Kesey's farm in Oregon. “Nothing lasts.”

Zane Kesey, son of author/iconoclast/Acid Tester Ken, apparently missed that Prankster memo and in 2014 set out on a 75-day, 15,000-mile journey to recreate Dad and the original Pranksters’ cross-country, day-glo journey that inspired Tom Wolfe’s “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” and generation of psychedelic seekers.

The result is “Going Furthur,” a new documentary about the latter-day adventure that premieres June 4 in San Francisco.

While the senior Kesey’s adventures were a natural outgrowth of their time and place, Junior’s whole thing feels forced. And when one of the participants says, “That bus is the Liberty Bell,” the hyperbole elicits an unintended giggle, particularly given that the original bus is inoperable and this “Liberty Bell” is a 1990 replica.

Sound Bite’s’ll cop to craning his neck to get a look at Furthur as we passed it in Virginia following Lockn’ 2014. But after seeing the trailer, it’s abundantly clear he’d rather read about the original 1964 trip than watch a film about a 21st-century rehash.
