yeah… also for me a reason was some tutorials seemed to say/imply “ok stop drawing stylized right now, ONLY practise realism for years until you learn it, you’re not allowed to draw a single cartoon until you nail realism” and sure, learning the fundamentals is great but why not also draw your usual cartoony stuff along with practising on the side and gradually improving it with your new knowledge?
honestly, learning how to stylize is as important as learning realism but that’s not something that’s ever taught either
