Rules: Post a brief scene where your MC is having a fight
This is not from the books we’re writing, but rather a random scene I decided to write from Kira’s past. It isn’t told from her PoV, but it is technically centered around her... so I guess it still counts!
"Who is willing to test their skills against this supposed "warrior" of a xu-fang?"
Zanthus watched his men look between themselves in disbelief. They clearly shared his beliefs. This woman was no warrior, and certainly was not worthy of their attention. But there was always one that hoped to climb the ranks. It was not long before one of the younger warriors stepped forward, his companions starting to hurl insults at the woman as he did so.
Zanthus leaned forward, holding a hand out to silence the men. "Test her, but do not break her. A dead guest is of no use to me."
The warrior nodded, and started towards the woman. But she turned her back on him and looked at Zanthus instead.
"Does that apply to me as well?" she yelled, side-stepping the man when he took a swing at her. "Or can I kill your whelpling here?"
Zanthus scoffed. "Do what you want, Xu-fang."
Her face twisted in anger at the term and she turned to face the warrior.
Zanthus was not worried. But beside him, Adra watched with a growing feeling of trepidation. The woman circled with their warrior for some minutes, taking several hits without any signs of despair. If anything, she appeared to be enjoying herself. The noise from the crowd grew. The hairs on the back of Adra's neck went on end as Zanthus leaned forward. He watched intently as she managed to get the upper-hand, and twisted his arm around and back.
The arena went quiet, the only sound the loud pop as she dislocated his arm before snarling and exerting the force to break it. She then wrapped her arm around his throat, making sure he couldn't get his chin down to protect himself, and started to squeeze. It took only minutes for him to be down, and she dropped his lifeless body to the floor.
As she looked up at Zanthus again, she was smiling, fangs on display. "You did say I could kill him."
It isn’t revealed anywhere in the scene yet, but that’s Kira. It takes another couple fights before Zanthus finds her worth the trouble of learning her name. (Which isn’t a good thing. At all.)
I don’t draw him often but here lies my golden boy
