Re: the supergirl wlw couple - yes the actors were two white women, but it wasn't just fandom thinking one of them was brown - the character was explicitly brown. She mentioned "growing up non-white" in the south, and was a latina. It was brownface. Currently, Alex is in a relationship with a black woman, but where are the gifsets? The same blogs who went nuts over the first relationship are mum now - they'll only talk about the fanon ship Superc*rp which is two white women! (1 of 2)

It's really hard being a queer brown woman in fandom, because the racism is so ingrained. And if you try to talk about interracial couples (straight ones) - you're shut down for being homophobic. It's exhausting. (2 of 2)

Its not your fault I’m p sure my co mod didn’t use the proper term for it either but what Floriana Lima did was brownface.  Yes it was partly the show runners fault but we’ve seen white actors like Ed Skrein take a step back from whitewashing a role before. like actors can be woke. sorry for the tangent. 

But yeah I personally stopped paying attention to supergirl when she was with that slave owner but it honestly does not surprise me that now that supergirl’s sister is dating a black woman tumblr hasn’t let me know this through gifs.

Furthermore there’s been such little support for Maria Deluca and her ship Marichael when technically they’re not straight because hello Michael is bi so therefore no ship he’s in is straight. like there’s just no respect for Black women in fandom. So many white girls cry homophobia when you point out that fandom misogynoir is a problem when in reality they’re just so much more invested in white slash ships.  like there’s absolutely no love for thundergrace too because neither of them are white.

I’m so sorry its hard for you in fandom! Come vent to us anytime or if you see a post you don’t have the energy to address just send us the link and we’ll address it!

Well they DID bring the MU on the table so toes and fingers crossed that it would be addressed! How? Remains to be seen. Not hoping for anything grand but darn intrigued about what’s coming next! URGH! Their progress is steady but they have such small scenes that the slow burn is EXTRA slow with them. I toh feel like I’m watching a daily 5-8 minute long webseries with RiKara instead of a 40 minute show!

If you've done it, (or not watched it), then Ek Vivah Aisa bhi (cause I saw you reference w.r.t Sujamal Bhaisa & I hate this movie but have watched it multiple times) loads of love!

Maine Pyaar Kiya

This has not aged well. It’s so cringey and just objectively bad.

I understand that it was a game-changer, and that Barjatya’s début is a solid movie, but I’ve only watched it maybe ... twice? It’s this dramatic, overacted mess and I hate it. I know it’s very popular and well loved, and I think the cast and crew deserve loads of praise for the end result, but this one’s just not for me.

I find Mohnish Behl more interesting as Salman Khan’s brother/jija in a positive role. This character was just ew. I think I’ve spoken about how much I hate the sexual assault is the only way to showcase a villain bullshit.

The songs are terrible.

This one’s not the one with Tuffy the dog right? It’s the one with the magic pigeon?

I think I’d be more tolerant of this movie if it hadn’t been in such a hurry to make no fucking sense. It’s a story of two brats who know nothing about the real world, who think hormones love will fuel them until they’re 75. It’s not sweet, it doesn’t portray the first blush of love, it’s just silly and it makes me want to climb into the screen and smack everyone. And what, pray tell, was the point of showing all that righteous ~a boy and a girl can just be friends~ stuff just to show that ... they can’t?

(I always dislike this. Rowling in Harry Potter told us that the world isn’t split up into good people and Death Eaters only to show that it ... was.)

-5/10 I don’t even think I can enjoy it ironically, it makes me that angry.

Hahaha. The Holi piece was an adventure in writing drunk logic. Khushi’s suits don’t even have pockets, he just copped a feel and called it a day.

Hola PS! Hope the first fortnight of the new year has been good for you!

I absolutely loved the latest Tere Bin chapter!!! Eee!!!! It actually had me squeeing!!! And I like the little hint of plot wrt Shyam going on another business trip. I also really like the Anjali-Arnav relationship as you write it! Anjali is one of the most important people (arguable the most important) in Arnav's life, and your writing shows that so well while still focusing on Arnav - khushi.

The fortnight’s been pretty good -- the weather has finally realised it’s meant to be summer here so I’ve been going on walks in the afternoons :) Good news is that our new neighbours are super nice. How are you going??

I love writing Arnav and Anjali!! For so many years, Anjali’s been trying to step into the role their parents left empty. She wants to guide Chhote through a difficult time as she imagines they would’ve but she doesn’t know how.

I totally understand why Anjali didn’t voice any doubts to Arnav in the serial -- (1) he was always staunchly on Shyam’s side when it came to work-related absences, she probably thought he’d reiterate that she was overthinking and (2) after a while, it would’ve felt like a betrayal to her God-like husband. But I so very much want her to able to say “Chhote, isn’t Shyam-ji being a bit weird?”

I echo Arnav’s sentiment -- Finally. She’s with him and she even talked to him. Even if it was to shout. I’m excited about the next chapter. It still won’t behave -- *side-eyes Scrivener* -- but I’ve worked out why I dislike it so now I simply have to work out how to fix it (she says, optimistically).
