Costume update

I’ve made both the practice tail for Zararyia and the tail for mungojerrie. I’m quite happy with how they turned out but if anyone has any tips/tricks please let me know. Constructive criticism is also welcome! I might remake the Zararyia tail once I’ve had some more practice.

Mungojerrie costume update!

So today I started painting the base of the Mungo costume. I happy with how it’s looking so far. Tomorrow I will do the back and arms if I get time, then it will be onto the hatching. I’ve ordered the hair for the wig which should be arriving very soon.

As for the Zararyia costume....

I had to throw it in the wash and start over😭 I’m currently painting the black base and will then hatch some grey stripes on. I also found out the Kanekalon for her wig won’t be arriving until September so it’s very slow progress with her.

🖊 HEY DO YOU WANNA TELL ME ABOUT ZARARYIA PLS????

I’D LOVE TO! (I’m 100% using this as an excuse to ramble about her)

When she was a kitten she’d make Tugger and Munk carry her around on their backs whenever they went exploring. This lead to many arguments about who had to carry her.

Although she has similar markings to Munk and a mane like Tugger her personality is completely different to both of them. Unlike Tugger she is shy and does not care for dramatics. Although she is reserved she is far more laid back than Munkustap. Unfortunately this combination of personality traits meant that both brothers have experienced the ordeal of having to track her down. She likes to hide away from the busy areas and doesn’t mind how long she is away for, so good luck trying to find her in a hurry! She also has the ability to make herself ‘invisible’. By using her magic she is able to cloak herself so that anyone who looks at her won’t realize she is there. This helps her to be an excellent hunter.

Quite a few of the cats don’t realize that Zar has magic. She doesn’t like to show it off (unlike misto) and only uses it for practical purposes. The only cats who see her using magic freely are her family and very close friends. She is particularly good at conjuring illusions.

She first met her mate Mercury when she moved away with her owner. She had been let out of the flat she lived in and got lost, due to not knowing the area they had moved to. Mercury found her roaming the streets and offered to show her the way back home. After that they became good friends. As Zararyia has an impeccable sense of direction Mercury often jokes that she was only pretending to be lost so that he would speak to her. This is not true of course, but she likes to let him think that.

Mercury was going to ask Zararyia to be his mate, but she moved back to the junkyard and the bookshop before he could ask. He decided to try and find her. Once he found her he asked her to be his mate and she said yes. They danced the mating dance at the following ball. Mercury now lives with Zararyia at their humans bookshop.

As shy and reserved as she is, Zararyia does have a mischievous streak a mile wide. She helps to watch over the tribes kittens and will often look the other way when shenanigans ensue. However she won’t let any real damage happen. Sometimes, when a prank is especially good, she will help with the execution of it, particularly if the target is one of her brothers.
