This is the first track that was written by The Prairie. It's sort of about the circle of life, and how one can't dwell on the subject of death, for it is inevitable for us all. We feed the earth, the earth feeds us. Enjoy!
The Snapper
"hawk is perched hunger stricken
with eyes cold stones searching for prey.
it's been days since hawk has fulfilled his cravings.
it's been days since hawk has fed his children.
but oh, no giving in
to the hole that the farmer is digging.
rabbit hunkers deep in a hole
contemplating dinner with his wife
to go forth, to salvage is a death wish.
to stay home and do nothing is to cease to exist.
long nights has rabbit kept watch o'er the sky
for hawks hungry maw
long days has rabbit gone without self
to prolong a visit with death.
but oh, no giving in
to the talons of the starving hawk.
farmer wastes away like rotten cabbage.
cabbage that rabbit wouldn't touch.
farmer lost his wife and his daughter
and found solice in a stein.
farmer grips his iron at the stalk
and spots rabbit with his eyes on hawk.
farmer unloads lead into rabbit
and hawk soars down to steal farmers prize.
now hawk can feed his children
but what of rabbits wife?
and the farmer who has nothing but a sad and wasted life?
we all play a part in this merry-go-round of life
as long as the wheel keeps on turning we'll move on like rabbits wife.
