Oh that looked like it caused you actual distress... sorry. Nowi was a whole bunch of bad choices by the devs but she's actually a decent character. She's your more experienced character and has seen both the best and worst of humanity. She deliberately plays up the childish behaviors and enjoys life in revolt to the inevitable pain of living.
It’s all right. I did play up my reaction, as that’s often just my writing style here, but I also sooner or later probably was gonna end up screaming about why Nowi is like that, because her character “archetype” (can it truly be called an archetype if it’s pandering to creeps?) is one of the things that has the capacity to really piss me off.
And it’s like! There’s something interesting to do with a character who’s a thousand years old! The loneliness that she talks about, not knowing anyone like her, and having been alone for so long, and knowing that’s going to happen again both after the war and when all of these friends of hers die! How much she’s seen, like you said.
And there’s even something interesting you could do with a character that old who looks like a child and so might get treated as a child. That she talks in her C-support with Nah about how she plays up those childish behaviors to give the others a sense of normalcy, and hope, and to be someone for them to laugh at/with. Having someone who looks like a child but has a thousand years of experience could be really interesting in a series that has us taking actual children into battle. How she acts like a kid even in the midst of war when the other actual children can’t afford to allow themselves to act like kids.
And then the devs took all that and were like “what if we sacrifice an interesting character on the altar of having her look twelve but wear a chainmail bikini top and garter stockings” and I’m like cool, I hate this.
