Had some real deep thoughts about how Zeare might navigate around The Sanctum.
For those who are new here:
Zeare is the leader of The Sanctum of Outcasts, my main clan.
He was attacked during the early years of the clan by a Ridgeback, managing to escape with his life thanks to his now Guardian, Ezra, but his wounds caused him to lose his sight-eyes, his thermal-sense eyes remaining (thankfully) untouched.
What this means is that he can't see in the traditional sense, and legally qualifies as blind. He can still sense body-heat, as all Mirrors do, but his spatial awareness is limited. For a while (when the clan was still small) he could manage without much help, but as the lair expanded and more dragons moved in his thermal-sight and sense of smell could only do so much. It became harder and harder for him to navigate the tunnels of the Sanctum without his daughter or mate to escort him.
At least until Jonah arrived.
Jonah, the clan's forgemaster, came up with an idea that would solve Zeare's navigation woes indefinitely. Carvings.
He designed carvings, grooves, and sigils chiseled into the floors, a special kind of braille unique to the Sanctum's halls. Something only he and Zeare can read. These carvings cover every inch of the floors, creating intricate designs, meaningless to outsiders, but to Zeare; the most detailed map ever created. Every line, every texture, every rune has a meaning, following a specific pattern or line will bring you exactly to where you need to go, each section and floor is different, and all are magically sealed to prevent wear and damage.
This project took Jonah years to complete, his gift to his new clan leader to prove his worth, and now he sits among Zeare's most trusted and highly respected circle, alongside Ezra and Ronan. Though he still adds to the map from time-to-time (whenever something or someone new shows up in the clan) he now uses his free-time to create masterpieces in his self-designed workshop. His shop at the Bazaar is a must-see destination for any dragon visiting the Scarred Wasteland.
