Conclusions: what the actual fuck.
Continued work with cracking the crystal; managed to make it not immediately try to shatter me back, but no progress into actually getting into it. Feels warmer than I am. Grittier. How the hell do I mimic that. how does one even mimic energy.
What am I even looking for??? Why is this thing so important?? At least the babysitters think so. Maybe. Like I trust them.
Tried out the crystals again; managed to almost toast Iris to a crisp when she walked around the corner of the warehouse. Note to self: warn anyone who may come around there's an electric turret ready when they show up. It was pretty funny though. Wish it was Siren.
Power control improving: no longer burning myself on my own fire. Finally. It only took years.
Surges getting milder:

It’s a redesign of Zeda, and I think I’m finally happy with her. I may have had to design wards off the cuff, but hey, it works out! Her family gem has a bit of a makeover, and she’s taken over Malachai’s original stripy sleeves.
Also yes, the demon ward is on her middle finger. She’s so done with their shit guys. So done.
Concept: The LeDeux Bloodline
The LeDeux bloodline is a line of Deception class demons who were exceptionally good at organizing and analyzing information on varying events.
The Family
No one is quite sure who the founder of this line was, though they have come and gone as a demon already. They were a gifted witch, though soon the capacity for witchcraft was bred out of the line. As soon as supernatural blood was introduced, the witchcraft died, though a new power arose in its stead.
Energy Programming
The LeDeux line grew into a power allowing them to put intent behind their energy. The use of Energy Crystals became common within the last few thousand years, making it easier for Demi’s to use their powers as well as Immies to store energy for later use. Most Immies cannot do much with the crystals, only add and extract energy from them. However, this is where the irregularity of the LeDeux bloodline comes in.
These specific creatures were able to “put intent” behind their energy and the crystal would react accordingly. If a LeDeux had the intent to record data, then put their energy into a crystal, the crystal would immediately be able to have data recorded in it with the infusion of more energy. Depending on the specifics of the intent, the information could be free to any being that could put energy in, or it could be encrypted for only certain creatures to be able to access.
This power has not appeared in any other line, and if it has, an ancestor can always be traced back to the LeDeux’s.
Newfound Roles
This unique power has given them importance in the Hellish realm. Most LeDeux’s become demons, as they are typically highly manipulative in life and do not tend to have strong senses of morality when they have a goal in mind. This, mixed with their power, gives them an interesting position once they emerge from the Gauntlet. They are treated as the “Secretary” of the Black King, recording and encrypting sensitive information from the Bishops and Rooks. They keep the crystals safe from harm as well as create new ones. They also tend to speak the most to the Black King, making them the most influential of all the demons in the Hellish Realm, even surpassing some Pieces.
The Crystal
One of the most important things that the family has created has been the Family Crystal. This specific database has not been allowed outside the hands of the mortal family, making it a peculiar heirloom for those who continue the main line. The information kept on the crystal has been lost to time, as well as the combination of energy intention that will decrypt it. The crystal itself is heavily encrypted to the point that no being alive knows how to access the data inside.
The heirloom itself has taken many forms, though always settling in a form of jewelry. Whether it be a necklace, bracelet, or a broach, the crystal has stayed in the mortal line for hundreds, maybe thousands of years.
Current Line Members
Currently, there are no demonic members of the line in existence. A few years before the most recent mortal was born, the eldest Immortal member was hunted down and killed by Angels. There is a member currently in the Gauntlet, though they have been there for quite a long time, and is at risk of shattering from the pressure. This list consists of the late LeDeux, as well as the current mortals.

The Irregularities
The most recent generation of the LeDeux line has created some complications. The current mortal, Zeda, has broken the chain of Deception Class demons coming through the gauntlet and joining the ranks. She has also become the first one that does not initially show signs of being able to use the Energy Programming power from her bloodline. This creates a problem, considering the only reason for allowing her to live was for another attempt at decrypting the Heirloom.
The second irregularity is the lack of members passing into the Hellish realm. The past two hundred years, Angels have been taking the line into Heaven instead of allowing them to fall to Hell. This is an anomaly, as these souls should not create angels, making the only reason for the actions being to keep the power out of demonic hands.
The sunlight burned Zeda’s eyes, even as it faded into darkness. Bandages chafed against her skin, rubbing her raw as she walked, but she didn’t notice through the skull-splitting headache that refused to go away. It had been a little over half a year since her surges had begun, but their intensity hadn’t lessened by much. Sure, she’d gained more control over her power; she’d found a rather deadly ghost from the past; and she’d started feeling a little bit better about heights and their aftermath. She knew there was so much more she needed to know. What she didn’t know was why her mother was taking her outside at sundown with little more than a crystal and a bottle filled with coffee.
“Mom, why am I out here? I can barely keep my eyes human.” Zeda mumbled as she took a sip, trying not to spill it on herself while keeping up with Sora’s swift steps. Her mother glanced back, then slowed slightly, sighing.
“You need to learn to hunt for yourself,” she pulled her hair into a loose ponytail, “I would let Iris teach you, but her methods are questionable at best, and she’s still recovering from that angel hunt last week.” Zeda nodded and sipped at her drink. It was a warm night, with only a slight breeze whispering through her hair as they walked. Gravel crunched beneath their feet, scraping the concrete with a slight screeching noise. The streets themselves were rather barren, only a few walked with a hurried step towards their destination, while others laid down what they could to make a camp along the side of the road.
