Hi!, well I feel kind of weird even asking but since I'm a total beginner at running and or cross country, I wanted a bit insight on what it's about, I'm interested in trying out for my school in August, which gives me a month to prepare, is it possible for me to fit the requirements for cross country by August?, sorry, long question, and thank you!
I’d imagine most schools don’t have have requirements to be on the cross country team. It’s a pretty inclusive sport. To best prepare yourself, however, I would start to run a little bit just to make the transition to the team a bit easier.
Basically, you run throughout the week based on what your coach tells you to do. You compete at races (most likely 5k/3.1 miles long). You do some distance runs, some workouts (like 3xmile, 5x1k, 1 minute hard with 1 minute easy, etc.). The best part is the team aspect. Every day you are running with your friends, people that will become your best friends. You race with them. You travel with them. All the while you are challenging yourself and being the best you can be. Join cross country and you will never regret it!
Happy running!

P.S. You will regret it while yelling at yourself during a hard workout. But you will love it :)
