Nightmares Long Past
Volga has a terrifying nightmare of his past sins coming to haunt him, but thankfully Princess Zelda is there to comfort him when he wakes and recounts his horror.

“Volga? Are you alright?” asked Princess Zelda.
“Hm? Oh, apologies, Your Highness. I was just lost in thought,” Volga hummed with a nod. It was true, the Dragon Knight Volga had been lost in thought, mostly concerning how and why Zelda gave him another chance; especially after being their enemy under Cia. The princess really was a compassionate woman.
It was shortly after Volga was found in the middle of Hyrule Field, bloody, broken, and on the verge of death. With fluttering, half-lidded eyes, he was sure it would be Zelda who he would last see, until fate brought him death’s sweet embrace. He couldn’t quite hear what she was saying, but she looked worried as ever. Was she fearing the mere sight of him? Was she ordering her guards to kill him then and there? His questions were answered with a resounding “no”, when he felt himself be lifted into a carriage, with Zelda herself sitting by his side. While he couldn’t hear much, he could hear the princess’s gentle, crooning voice as clearly as a bell: “You’re going to be alright, Volga!” It was then and there he faded to unconsciousness.
Things didn’t end there. When Volga was awake and fully healed, Princess Zelda had some news for the half-dragon, and called him to her throne room.
“Volga, I know things haven’t been well for you working under Cia. You never really seemed evil, just a warrior seeking to face powerful opponents and testing your own strength. Working under someone like Cia had to have been awful.”
Volga looked away, silent. Zelda was right, though he didn’t want to talk about that torment.
“I want to put an end to that. You deserve respect, Volga. That’s why I want to hire you on as the captain of my guards.”
Volga looked shocked. “You would have me, Princess Zelda?”
Zelda’s cherry pink lips gently curled up in a sweet smile. “Of course I would. I would be foolish not to want one of the most powerful warriors in Hyrule.”
Volga laughed a bit. “You needn’t flatter me, Your Highness. I accept.”
Volga looked at Zelda once again. “Is Chief Darunia coming back for a visit?”
Zelda nodded. “He is. I would like you there with me when he comes.
Volga dipped his head in a bow. “Of course, Princess Zelda.”
Yes, the Princess was a compassionate enigma.
