#OnThisDay July 1, 1984 @du_husker released their second studio album #ZenArcade which charted at #11 on the @officialcharts indie charts. Probably my second favorite Husker Du release after”New Day Rising”. If I remember correctly I purchased this album along with NDR and “Metal Circus” as my starting points for Husker Du in ‘86. My good friend @melgutzjr had gotten me into them when he was exposed to their live performances on VHS punk compilations. Even though I bought this album out sequence, this and “New Day Rising” are pretty similar despite “Zen Arcade’s” more harder approach and shorter song length. Looking back now it’s clearly the progression from “Metal Circus”to “Zen Arcade” that eventually leads to “New Day Rising” and pretty much my favorite era of the band.
