As part of Mexican Independence Day, this woman is dressed in a Soldadera outfit. Maybe not as candid as we usually go for, but we love the composition that Marco Ugarte has used to tell this story.

Maria Alejandra Cardona has captured an amazing moment of extreme sunbathing in the face of hurricane Dorian here. The colour in the sky is ominous, and prefecture juxtaposes the casual nature of the Amelia Islander determined to maintain normality as long as possible.

Behlul Cetinkaya showing that a camera can open our eyes to a world most of us could never even conceive of! This is regarded as the highest battlefield in the world, in the Siachen glacier region, claimed by both India and Pakistan. And it's a great photo!

This photo by Martin Popek (Czech Republic) on spaceweather.com is a cluster of jellyfish sprites alongside a rain of Perseid meteors, and we think that it looks like unexplainable nature and a glitch in the future both at the same time. Fantastic!

Brendan Smialowski has framed these giant presidential statues brilliantly, showing off the innate creepiness of stone busts. For those of you wondering, these are in Virginia, and were originally set to be destroyed, before Howard Hankins, the man commissioned to blow them up, decided to keep them for sake of posterity.

We are really missing the sea ice this year! 

This shot of Suomenlinna, Finland, taken in February 2017, is one of our favourites because of the helmeted kid on his red bike. He had been whizzing up and down the grassed paths with his fluorescently-pink sister, the pair of them gleefully giggling as they no doubt raced away from imaginary monsters to save the world. Suddenly, the little lad had a grown-up moment, and stopped peddling with all his might. He pulled his bike to an abrupt halt, and stood perfectly still, serenely appreciating the natural beauty! 

It brought a little smile to our faces :)
