Could you maybe do zenyatta for the prom thingy??
Thingy. That’s a word i use all too often in life XD
With a long sigh of relief, you flopped down on your bed and relaxed at the familiarity it gave you. It had been awhile since you had been home to your parents house. Lately you’d been working at Over watch as a medic in training, going on missions and learning under the watchful eye of Mercy.
So to come home for a break really felt like a relief. You had missed them and felt a bit homesick, but you were really proud of the work you did.
“Y/N, your parents seem quite nice,” said a soft, robotic voice that sounded rather relieved. Lifting your head, you saw your omnic boyfriend, Zenyatta, floating by the door. It seemed he was uncertain what to do in your room.
The whole trip had made you both a bit nervous. While human/omnic relationships were much more common now, you hadn’t told your parents that you boyfriend was a omnic. But you were proud of him all the same, having fallen for the kindness and peaceful nature he had.
“I’m glad. They seem to approve of you…it makes me happy you get along.,” you said, knowing your parents actually quite liked him.
“Of course. Your family is important to me because they are important to you,” he says calmly.
Zenyatta turned slowly and you could tell he was looking around the room. While he had his own room at Overwatch, there was little he kept. Usually Zenyatta liked being in the garden anyway. So seeing your room, a robin blue and filled with so many things, was curious to him.
Floating over to your desk, he studied the montage of pictures of you from over the years, the people you had met. Reaching up, one specifically caught his attention and he gently plucked it from the wall.
“You are wearing a dress,” Zenyatta said in surprise, moving to the bed to perch beside you.
Sitting up, you peeked over and saw he was holding one of your prom photo’s. Cheeks flushing, you ran a hand through your hair nervously. “That, uh, is my prom picture,” you said, a bit embarrassed.
A beep or two came from Zenyatta, and you knew he only beeped when he really liked something. “What is a prom?” he asked instead.
Looking surprised, you realized Zenyatta had never gone to school and would never have gone to a prom or done half the things that you’d been given the chance to. Zenyatta was studying the photo with interest, fingers stroking across your dress in fascination.
“A prom is a very special dance that occurs when you graduate school…its like a party, where everyone dresses up in really nice clothes and you go with dates and friends you graduated with…” you tried to explain, unsure if it made complete sense to him or yourself. Maybe it’d be easier to look up the definition and some examples?
“…I’ve never danced before. Is dancing fun?” Zenyatta asked, looking up at you after a moment.
Blinking, the question startled you. “I guess it is, yes. You’ve never danced before?” you asked, finding it kind of sad. You couldn’t help wondering if he’d be a good dancer.
The sad shake of his head made up your mind.
Getting up, you offered him your hand. “Do you want to try?” you asked gently.
After a moment, Zenyatta shyly handed you his hand and got up. Slowly he put his feet to the floor, and let you pull his arms around you. “Is…is this okay?” Zenyatta asked softly.
With a smile, you nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck, resting against him. “Now we just start swaying and turning slowly and…thats slow dancing,” you said, turning a slow song on your phone.
The two of you swayed and held each other. You loved being in his arms, resting your cheek to his metal chest. Zenyatta’s hands cradled you very gently, as if you’d break.
After ten minutes, he gave you a gentle spin he’d witnessed once in a movie. “I like dancing,” Zenyatta said. “Almost as much as i like you.” It was really cute when he tried flirting with you.
Chuckling, you pressed a kiss to his chin.
“I like dancing with you too, Zenyatta.”
