Day 2786 - Today’s food science: falafel “burger” (made from mix that came in a returnable jar) on homemade buns accompanied by a farmers’ market+garden salad. Getting closer to no packaging all the time!
Day 2587 - I’ve only used chocolate or vanilla flavored oat milk in my breakfasts before, but we couldn’t resist the returnable glass bottle, so we’re giving plain a try!
Day 2525 - We read that the new grocery service we’re using (Zero Grocery) is having trouble keeping up with jars to send product in because they’ve had an explosion in popularity and people are extra stocking up on pantry supplies. Which made us realize that we could transfer our food out of their jars into our own and return theirs that much sooner!
Day 2657 - We’re going camping with a few friends this weekend and volunteered to buy all of the food, in large part so that we can make everything as zero-waste as possible. Many more jars and other reusable containers went into the making of our menu.
Day 2515 - Signed up and placed our first order with Zero, which is a new Bay Area grocery delivery service where everything offered is non-plastic packaging. The draw for us is that they do a bunch of products in their own glass jars which can be returned when they deliver your next order.
Day 2640 - Through a mishap on their end, Zero ended up not charging us for over half of the groceries that we got. Since I’d really like them to stay in business, we reported the issue so that they get the rest of their money.
Day 2666 - Tried out some vegan “lunch meat” we saw on Zero grocery. I wouldn’t say it tasted like the chicken it claimed to immediate, but it tasted pretty good and had the right consistency for sandwiches.
Day 2586 - Had to wait forever for them to be in stock when placing a Zero grocery order, but finally got to experience the wonders of plastic-free strawberries. I love this container design!
