People romanticize vampires and other things that feed on life to survive, but it always just makes me sad. Once you're talking about something ugly or non-attractive, then the romance vanishes, and the cries of "kill it!!!" begin.

I think a lot about me and mine. My self-generated offspring and I. Our taste for emotions and blood and hormones that we only get through violent possession of other living things... and how it makes us the bad guys every time.

Nobody would offer mercy to the eldritch. We're not like you and never will be, even beneath the skin.

I hope the fairies and the animals and the stupid pink creature can find it in them to forgive us. I resent them for having sympathetic faces, but one can hope it doesn't go both ways.
