How old are your ocs? And ik they are aliens so the years can't tell me much but let's say they were human, in what "life phase" will they be? Like teen young adults middle age etc..

This is all equivalencies bc alien ages are wiiiiiiild

Leilani: late 30sKartok: late 40s-50sZarra: mid 20s (about Matt’s age)

Martek: early 20s (slightly younger than Matt, like a feisty undergrad assistant)Ortraz: late 30s-40s

Jion & Zetri: late teens

I’ve been reading a lot this one really good Matt centric fic made by the peeps over at @this-iswhywefight and since there’s only a small amount of character description I though it’d be fun to try drawing some of them!

Fun Fact: Originally Zetri was going to be Jion’s actual sister, AND in the first draft he walks in an actually sees her. So. It could have been worse?

First off, I fell in love with this series, so thank you both. I was wondering if there were any fun facts about Jion and Zetri?

Ohh, Jion and Zetri, our sweet Galran babies. We love them so. Unfortunately they do have tragic backstories, which you got a little bit of in Why We Lie Awake (chapter... 3? maybe? I’m an unreliable source right now). 

They grew up as orphans together on that refugee planet, basically siblings (yes we DO like found families), and learned their respective skills in tech and combat because there was nothing else in their lives. After they join the Coalition they’re quickly integrated into Matt’s command. Jion actually served as an interim second for a little while, when Martek was on Shi’or leading the reorganization of the ground Hub - this happened in that year between chapters 6 and 7 of WWLA. Zetri, who joined the new strike teams, kind of claimed Baerl as her mentor. Galran girls gotta stick together, right?

The two of them stay extremely close despite working in different fields of the Coalition. They eat meals together, hang out together when they both have free time, keep one another updated on their work. It’s a relief to them both that they have each other, even as they move on from their Tragic Backstory.

Oh hey for future reference, are Zetri and Baerl the same person?

nope, they’re different people, but both galran :) baerl has been with the coalition for several years already and zetri is a sweet baby ready to LEARN
