Day 18 - Your favorite horror movie based on true events
I’ve mentioned Texas Chain Saw Massacre a few times so for a change of pace I’ve picked Borderland. A lot of ‘true event’ horror films have very little in common with the actual events. Borderland embellishes a bit as well but not too much. The film is based off Adolfo Constanzo who did run a cult in Mexico that was responsible for several murders and believed that the ‘sacrifices’ helped keep drugs going.
The film itself is pretty solid. Samwise himself Sean Astin gives a memorable performance as a particularly loathsome American serial killer affiliated with the cult.
