you glared at him, not only repulsed, but disgusted. he reached out his hand towards you, beckoning for you to climb up the ladder with him. for just a moment, you thought to decline his offer, to forget all this had happened and to run home in the hopes that you’d never see him again. but then, on the other hand, you knew that the close proximity that james had kept with your brother deemed your chances of keeping away from him as slim to none. he was a vampire after all, and from what you knew about the supernatural, vampires always had their ways.
again, he wiggled his hand out teasingly, as if he was eager to show you something, like he wanted to trap you in his lair and never let you leave; he had such an inciting demeanor to himself, like every single thing about him had you wanting to find out more, which quickly eradicated your feelings of fear, and turned them into curiousity.
“come on y/n, i dont bite”, he spoke softly. shyly, you slowly took hold of his hand, making sure not to grip onto his palms too tightly in case of any possible risk. you had just taken the easy option; following your long term vampire stalker deeper and deeper into his ominous lair. and from this exact moment, you realised that there was no going back from your choice. “maybe if i play along with him for a few minutes, then maybe i will be safe enough to escape”, you thought to yourself. you couldn’t be bothered to run away. to flee. because you knew that if you tried, the consequences would be more painful than anything else.
once you had finally reached the top of the ladder, you adjusted your dress and heels. coffins surrounded you, along with sculptures of old historic figures, some you recognised from different articles and pictures on the internet, which were held up by big white pillars that stretched all the way up to the ceiling. james had picked up on your curiosity, letting a small smile peek through his expression, admiring how cute you looked with your messy hair and baby pink dress. you turned around to face him, as you started to realise he was eyeing you up. slowly, he started backing you into one of his coffins.
with every few steps you took backward, he took more and more lunges forward towards you, like a predator finally getting ready to claim its prey. at this point, you thought that if he’d gotten any closer to you, he would have bitten you by now. “j-james”, you spoke. “what are you doing?”, voice riddled with nerves.
“this”, a voice spoke from behind you. before you could turn, without warning, a blinding, crackling snap spread against your lower back, the electric sensation of volts coursing through your veins, accompanied by a high pitched buzz. a scream erupted through your lungs, as your knees fell weak, and gave in. you dropped to the ground, falling against one of james’ coffins, head upright, weakened and unable to stand up.
the attacker stood before you, in the form of a big, yet undistinguishable black figure. your vision started to blur, the bookshelves in front of you which were once full of colour dimmed to dark, gloomy shades of black. a high pitched ringing clouded your ears, as your sense of hearing became more and more distorted. you tried to retrace your thoughts, figure out why were you here again, or at least try to utter out a scream for help. but you couldn’t. with every single second that passed, it had worsened. more and more. until your vision caved in. and your eyes; shut.
