Karate Kid (2010) is one of my favorite movies.

I think one of the reasons why is because when I was roughly Dre's age, my dad was interviewing for a position in Beijing. He didn't get the job but we dreamed a lot during that time, and I was really excited.

So I guess the film is the pipe dream that never got fulfilled about growing up in China.

Also the cinematography, the dialogue, the acting and the soundtrack are all really great in my opinion.

As an adult, I can understand some more bits in Mandarin, which is more fun now.

I don't know, it's just a really comforting movie to me.

My mom thinks my infatuation with Asian men started last year when I got into dramas and kpop. Jokes on her because it actually started in 2010 with Zhenwei Wang in Karate Kid:
