I am in fact in the process of writing a women’s hockey Heated Rivalry AU fanfiction staring Rose/Svetlana.
Obviously they are both bisexual queens.
Childhood friends, turned enemies, turned lovers, turned rivals, turned friends, turned lovers.
Svetana ultimate bi- bi-racial, bi-national, bi-lingual, and bisexual.
She is going to be the heiress to an American sports car dealership, and her Russian father was an NHL goalie before playing for and coaching the Russian SuperLeague.
Rose is American and has four older brothers who play hockey and while her family has enough money to put them through hockey they don’t have enough money for a fifth child to play hockey. Rose is a very cute little girl and gets offered to do modeling. Which gives her family the money to put her in hockey. But they care more about her modeling and acting career than her achievements in hockey even though she is a natural protege.
Svetlana plays defense while Rose is a center.
Ilya and Svetlana grow up together as besties.
Rose meets Shane in her first year of college in Montreal before transferring to a Minnesota college.
Rose struggles with the ability of having privacy as a public figure and not being able to tell if she likes modeling/acting or if it’s something that was forced upon her.
Svetlana struggles with being caught between as part of two rival imperial countries and navigated the social and political politics in both and contenting with the legacies and future both sides of her family has mapped out for her.
Can they make it through the pressures that are placed on them? Can they figure out a way to over come their past and the political and social climates they find themselves in?
I will tell you. In a love story spanning from 1997 to present day 2026.
