Hu Zhibang ♡ 》 Loud Thoughts
Pairing: A very shy! Zhibang x A very quiet! Reader
Genre: Fluff! School! AU
You had just moved into your new school..for the seventh time. If there was a person to be put to blame, it had to be your father. He had always hoped to give you a better future even if it meant going to the farther provinces of China just to have a better job. Yet, it repeatedly comes from finding a job to being fooled by an agent. You loved your father but sometimes, you had hoped to just settle down.
You were yet again, a new girl in your school. You were getting used to people staring at you for being someone they could not recognize. Should you even try to make friends when you know you're gonna end up leaving again? You decided to just keep to yourself.
You headed off to your first class. It was introductions again...your most hated part of a new school. Lucky enough for you, your teacher did the introduciing instead. She instructed for you to head towards the empty seat next to a boy whommshe referred to as Hu Zhibang.
He was a little frail and truthfully, he looked younger than you but being in the same class probably meant your ages were not that far. You were then broken from your thoughts as you heard people murmur from your side.
Is she the one Wenjun told us about?
I heard Cai Xukun also became classmates with her.
Does she have an addiction in being in all the schools?
I'd give it a week until she transfers again.
I'll give it three days.
You already knew that this school was going to be difficult for you. You sat quietly at the back and looked down on your table, not aware that Zhibang had been watching you. Being quiet himself, he knew how his class can dig their clawe into someone just because they want to.
He took out a small sticky note and jotted down something before slowly sliding it towards your table. You glanced at him but he was already looking at the teacher writing on the board.
Welcome to the school. :)
You smiled a little. You were confused on why he would not look at you both this small gesture lightened your mood by a bit.
Thank you. :)
You passed back the note, making sure the teacher did not catch both of you.
This had went on for a while. Everyday, people would always say things against you but Zhibang's small letters made things more tolerable. He was very shy in school, you've noticed. You also heard how people teased him about being mute or stupid.
Yet the notes he had exchanged with you showed how loud his thoughts were. He talked about different things. From singing, to dancing, to cultures and to historical places he found amusing.
However, that was the only interaction you two had. He had never spent anytime with you asides exchanging those notes. Sometimes you would get worried about how temporary this friendship was. You were used to it but unlike the other temporary friendship you had, he did put in effort to getting to know you.
Your thoughts had gotten to you and you would stop exchanging notes with him. You tried to distract yourself with the lessons and failed you the chance of seeing Zhibang stare at you then down to his note that you did not read.
It was at lunch time when things changed for you. Zhibang sat in front of you and stared at you,a gesture in which you returned. His cheeks started to redden so he brought out his sticky notes again and started writing something before sliding the note towards you.
Are you upset with me?
You looked at him and then down at your plate. "Why would I he upset with you?"
He started to write down again. Then why can't you look at me?
"Then why can't you talk to me, Zhibang?" You looked at him and seem flustered by the question.
There was a long silence before you saw him stiffen in his seat. "I-I d-don't normally t-talk..." he stuttered in the cutest and softest voice.
"I..." you werr trying not to seem weird and burst into a magnet that calls him cute.
"T-this i-is w-why I d-don't t-talk..." he stuttered again and got up but you instinctively held onto his hand.
"Please stay....let's...let's go to the rooftop." You told him and both of you slipped out of the cafeteria.
You two had remained quiet all throughout the walk. Upon arriving at the rooftop, he had followed behind you and he stumbled back a bit when you turned around to face him.
"Bangbang~" you called him by his nickname and smiled softly at him. "You don't have to talk to me anymore."
"W-why..?" There was a slight hint of hurt in his tone and facial expression but you shook your head.
"I mean...I am fine with just passing notes. I think your mind is beautiful...and..now I know, it's enough." You tried to word out your own thoughta but you were also finding it a bit difficult.
"I d-don't understand..." he mumbled almost inaudibly.
"I mean..let's stay as friends..but even if you talk me only through notes...as long as you hang out with me..." you fiddled with your fingers.
"Will you leave me too...?" He asked, pertaining to how you usually moved to one place to another.
"You stared at him for a smile. Maybe, he did value this friendship as much as you did.
"Whatever happens, Bangbang. We'll always stay in touch." You smiled softly at him and the nervous little boy has finally smiled as well.
