            He realized he was being dramatic, but at the same time he also didn’t give a flying fuck. The dark haired male knew he looked like death, but he was also sure he felt ten times worse than that, especially given the fact that he felt like his entire body was on fire.             And not even manageable fire, like ‘oh no, i accidentally touched this pan of hot cookies because i’m a small idiot child’ manageable. Like he was sure he was literally being burned alive at the center of the sun, which was possibly the worst sort of sensation for any ice based magician to be going through at any given point.

           That was right. This whole ordeal was working violently against everything his affinity aligned with.             It explained why he was drowning in sweat. It explained why he felt so painfully dehydrated, right down to the marrow in his bones and the follicles in his skin. It explained why he couldn’t focus on anything, let alone keep up the mental strength it took just to keep himself afloat. 

           This was hell, and he couldn’t escape it.             He needed to get out of the building, escape from the walls and out into the cold air of the night. Being unable to create his own cooling sphere, he sought to rely on the natural world’s ability to do it for him.            And for a moment at least, he did begin to feel better, as the breeze brushed over dry heated skin, and kissed away some of the pounding in his head. 

           Things were going well in that moment before he inevitably collapsed in the middle of the field he’d been wandering through.             The thought came to him that he should get up, that he couldn’t simply stay out here like this even if he was armed but… why not? With soft damp of the grass beneath him was inviting, calming, and the darkness held him with far more care than the sheets of his own bed.             The thoughts came to him over and over, yet slower and slower, as he felt himself slipping into a haze, sometime around the time he considered the slight shift in the Rukh could possibly be the press of an approaching figure.

This is what he got for trying to do too much on too little sleep- he was bumping into people and now he had dumped all of his own things over. He was already knelt down picking them up, but he didn’t know if the male had anything of his own and it was now mixed with Ja’fars things or not.

        It couldn’t possibly be normal for foreigners to match the height of a Holmlondian runt, right? The other male was too peculiar looking, with slanted eyes and a slender figure. Where did his organs go, what a tiny torso! Why was his hair so dark? And his skin so sickly? Why were his eyes so bright blue? Why did Father invite these foreigners they don’t look in the slightest bit friendly. Stupid foreign prince, you think you can beat him? Well you’ve got another thing coming!

        He doesn’t seem to realize that this is actually an abnormal height for people of the Kou region, but that doesn’t stop him from glaring at the Kou Empire’s first prince. The people around him were uneasy too, but it was Errhendyle that made it the most obvious. When it’s his turn to present himself as the eldest son of the Chief, he just spits on the ground and narrows his eyes at the hand offered to him.

        Oops, no one told Hakutoku and his sons that the proper way to greet the Zhezzuwans is to place your forehead to theirs as a sign of brotherhood. They look stupid, and they look disrespectful. Why did Father humor them and shake their hands? They didn’t deserve it at all.
