Random Huan Zhu Ge Ge thought... why is it that Zi Wei is the one that can cook, and Xiao Yan Zi the one that can’t? 

Considering that Zi Wei is the one who grew up relatively well off money-wise, with her own personal maid, why would she have EVER needed to learn how to cook? I presume food should’ve just been served to her on her table every day at meal times... there is literally no time in her life she would’ve needed to know how to cook.

As for Xiao Yan Zi... while I can plausibly believe she doesn’t know how to cook because the old people at Da Zha Yuan cooked while she spent her time busking, it would be much more plausible for her to be the one who knew how to cook out of the two. I mean, she grew up being sold around as a servant... you’d think somewhere along the way the girl would’ve been forced to pick up how to cook a decent meal for one of her masters?

Can you recommend an English book on Zi Wei Dou Shu?

Hi. I am not into Zi Wei, so there is not much I can recommend.
