coming to life | a nouis fic | chapter 12
chapter title: this one has no title (see how lame I am)
pairing(s): nouis and zolivia
warning(s): lots of het (sorry)
word count: 2400
a/n: Sorry this is late! The story isn't really coming to me and I've been having writer's block lately. Also, I'm sorry I haven't put much Nouis in this, I swear there'll be some. Even more sorry to ziallislife, but I know you understand.
READ: Some of the story will be changed. I'm skipping the Lirry date. They're back together. Zayn and Olivia are still complicated. Louis is still trying to figure out how to confront Niall about being his 'master' and stuff like that. Thanks to those who still read this story.
ALSO, to those who read this just for Nouis, I'm extremely sorry there's barely any! I'm having a struggle trying to put this story together, so this is all I could start off with for the time being.

Louis sighed. He had sat himself across the very path that Niall had led him to on their first date. He was very curious. Louis wanted so badly to know what kind of world lay on the other side of the pond. He wanted to know how Niall got created. He wanted to know why he had to fall for the blonde so easily. He always surprised himself whenever he thought about how quick into a relationship he got into with Niall. He didn't know why he suddenly always felt in love with him. He felt like his own feelings were forced to be that way. Louis wondered if Niall was able to control feelings.
He got up and looked both ways on the park path. To the left was the way to Niall's house. To the right was Olivia's apartment. Should he confront Niall, or keep bothering Olivia about Niall?
Louis shook his head. He needed to stop being so chicken. He headed right.
----
Olivia woke up to the sound of banging on the front door of her apartment.
"I'm coming!" She guessed it was Louis.
She quickly fixed her hair and combed it into a ponytail, put on her slippers and dragged herself to the front door. She jumped when she saw Zayn. But not ordinary Zayn with his greased up hair and black leather jackets. It was an even more clean Zayn, cleaner than yesterday. He wore a grey sweater with a blue plaid shirt underneath, black jeans and white low cut Converse. His hair was slightly pushed back, but not with a massive amount of gel.
"Hey..." Zayn greeted quietly.
Olivia gaped at him. "Hi. You look... all dolled up."
Zayn snorted. "That's so sweet of you."
Olivia rolled her eyes. "Come on in."
Zayn entered her apartment, closing the door. Usually Zayn would right away grab the girl, push her up against the wall and start a make out session right then and there, but that's only if he's been take home by the girl and only met her once. Olivia was different. This was the first time he's been in a girl's home the formal way.
Olivia reckoned he was here to talk about the kiss last night. She didn't want their relationship to escalate any higher than 'just friends', but she couldn't deny that that kiss was pretty damn good.
"So, what're you here for?" Olivia asked casually, pouring herself a mug of coffee. "Oh, coffee or tea?"
"Just wanted to hang out with you today. But I guess you like hanging out in your pajamas at one in the afternoon. I should have worn my own," Zayn said with a wink, "By the way, tea would be lovely."
Olivia almost gagged on her coffee. "Wait, did you say one in the afternoon?" She started to make Zayn's tea.
"Yeah, why?" Zayn asked, worried.
"I'm supposed to be at work today," Olivia groaned. She finished Zayn's tea hastily and handed the cup to him. He looked at Olivia. "What, at the cafe? I thought Louis usually-"
"No, I have a different job. The cafe one is just every other weekend. I actually work full-time at a fashion magazine company as an unpaid intern. I'm just dying to get promoted. I want to be able to write my own blog, and fashion tips and my own articles... and get paid for it as well. But you can never go wrong with being an intern. It's a lot of work and a lot of fun."
Zayn raised an eyebrow. This girl was really out of his league.
"I feel so lowly compared to you," Zayn laughed. "I don't have anything in mind ahead of me. I wish I did."
Olivia smiled sympathetically. "I'm sure you'll have something in mind. You just need time to figure out what you want to do. I guess a lot of people just don't really give you the help you need, huh?"
Zayn nodded. "Yeah. I mean, I have Louis, but before the day he met Niall, he's been impossible to talk to. He used to be so concentrated on his writing and he used to be so depressed and sulky and rude. Ever since Niall came, he's seemed so much more brighter. I missed that old Louis."
"Oh, I also have you. I mean, you're the only person that I've ever let my thoughts out towards."
Olivia blushed. "Oh, I always thought that-"
"My family's really disgraced of me. Because of the constant drinking, one night stands and partying, they've never really bothered with me anymore. I don't blame them, though. They wanted a son who would do something right and something to make his family proud. All I ever did was totally dishonor them."
Olivia nodded. "Well, you're not doing so bad right now. I think you're cleaning up your slate just fine, if you mind my saying."
Zayn looked up at her, smiling. Smiling for real, for the first time. "Thank you."
He's never been lost in a girl's eyes before. He looked away, afraid of the feelings he's just had.
"I need to go change. I do have to get to work, after all," Olivia said, setting the finished mug of coffee and Zayn's empty cup of tea in the sink. "It was a nice chat today."
Zayn nodded, smiling slightly. As Olivia was about to walk away, Zayn called, "Wait."
Olivia turned around. "Hm?"
"Can I come with you?"
After a small pause, he added, "Just to see how it's like. Maybe fashion might be something I'll be interested in?"
"Are you sure you're not going because of me?" Olivia teased.
Zayn scoffed, although that was half the reason why. "What do you think?"
Olivia shrugged. "Sure. I'll be a while though, so just chill out here if you want."
----
Louis hesitated. He really hoped that he wasn't here. But he knocked otherwise.
"I'm coming!"
Louis sighed. Of course Niall would be home. Where else would he be if Louis didn't write him to go somewhere?
Louis smiled meekly, making a small wave as Niall opened the door. "Hey," Louis greeted. "H-hi," Niall stuttered. Louis could have easily fainted at the sight of a flushed Niall.
"Come on in," Niall said as Louis entered his home. He was greeted by his so-called parents and older brother. "Louis, nice to finally meet you. Niall's been talking all about you," Niall's mother said. Louis blushed, shaking her hand. He didn't expect to meet Niall's parents so soon. Louis felt guilty, now knowing that Niall had to meet his parents.
But it actually wasn't so bad. He was invited to stay the night, although Louis only lived just a couple steps away. But he couldn't refuse them.
Louis didn't find it so hard to bond with Niall's parents. Besides, he made a pretty good connection with them when they first moved here.
Niall's brother was a bit stubborn with Louis, though. He kept asking Louis odd questions.
After Niall was finished washing the dishes from just being done with dinner, Louis tapped him on the shoulder. "Can we take a walk outside for a bit?" Louis asked.
Niall smiled, nodding. "Yeah, I'm coming."
As Niall grabbed his coat, following Louis, Louis caught Greg's eye and shivered. Why did he not like Louis so much?
When Niall shut the door, Louis held out his hand for Niall to hold. Niall blushed, but took it anyway. Louis chuckled as he noticed Niall's hands got sweaty very quickly. "Hey, don't sweat it Ireland," Louis said, winking. Niall blushed harder. "Go to hell, Tomlinson."
After walking what seemed for miles, Louis decided to break the ice with something he needed to ask Niall really badly. But Niall was feeling just the same.
"I need to tell you something," the boys said in unison.
They both blushed, but Niall kept silent. "You go first," he said, smiling shyly.
"Oh, um, okay. Well, I, uh, oh bloody hell I really need to get to my point faster. I'm gonna say it," Louis rambled. Niall giggled.
"You're not human, am I right?"
Niall stopped mid-giggle, gaping.
Louis raised an eyebrow at him.
"Well, fuck."
Louis scoffed. "I'm sorry Lou, I meant to tell you everything. But I didn't know what to do."
"I wish you would have! I'm going out with someone I created out of pure imagination, and I'm not even sure if I should be doing this! I mean, you're a dream creature. Someone I have to control with my writing. I don't want to have a relationship like this. In fact, I didn't really want a relationship in the first place, but because of you, I'm stuck."
Niall frowned. "I know it's weird because you're my supposed master and all, but honestly, I don't need you to write for me. I know the things you write bring me to life, but honestly, I've been separating from some sort of connection. I'm becoming more human, you know?"
"How do you know that?" Louis asked. He was very confused at this point. "Actually, no, I'm very confused."
Niall sighed. "Dream creatures are supposed to live as long as their master writes. I'm the longest living dream creature out there. You somehow created me out of pure consciousness. I don't know how or when, but you created me out of imagination; something that rarely happens in the dreamworld. I'm supposed to be reporting to the dreamworld once a month for some sort of 'check-up', whatever that is, but I think it's to check if your master is still 'controlling' you. I managed to avoid those meet ups, and my 'connection' with the dreamworld has been slowly breaking. Just a couple more weeks and I'll be an actual human, controlling myself."
Louis blinked, trying to soak in all the new information. "There's one slight problem, though..." Niall added.
"What?" Louis asked, feeling exasperated. "I need you to come with me down to the dreamworld..." Niall said, cringing. "There's something I need to show you. Also, you're involved in my disconnection with the dreamworld."
Louis sighed. "Okay." He was tired of thinking. Louis decided the best thing to do was agree with whatever Niall said.
----
"How're you liking it so far?" Olivia asked as she typed away in her cubicle. Zayn leaned on the entryway, watching people with the most outrageously 'unique' styles of clothing he's ever seen. He envied a man who wore the most nice looking leather jacket. Zayn could feel himself leaning towards it. Olivia stifled a giggle. "I'm guessing you like it, then."
Zayn scoffed. "Eh, it's alright."
Olivia snorted. "You almost fell flat on your face for that leather jacket."
"So?"
"You have a thing for fashion?"
Zayn shrugged. "Maybe..."
Olivia smiled. "C'mon. I want to show you something, before I get called in for another task from CeCe."
As Olivia got up from her seat, Zayn rolled his eyes. "That CeCe is a total bitch. The clothes she wears definitely does not reflect on what she puts on the runway."
"You've seen her work?"
"Oh, well, I, uh, maybe."
"Stop answering with 'maybe'! I'm going to take those as a yes from now on."
"Alright. I've seen her work. I am a bit into fashion."
"You're clothing doesn't show that," Olivia commented as she earned herself a slap on the arm.
"It's called being casual," Zayn muttered.
"A sweater with a plaid shirt underneath? White converse? Looks to me someone's going a bit 'dressy nerd', to be honest. Anyway, just come with me."
Olivia took Zayn's arm and dragged him down the hallway. Zayn just tried his best to look cool as she greeted many people she seemed to know on the way. He tried not to move his arm so he could hold her hand. He tried not to bite the guy she was chatting to (Mark? Marco? Miles?) that caused her to blush so much. He finally calmed himself down as they made it to their destination.
"Here we are. The closet."
Zayn raised an eyebrow. "Please, don't say what I think you're going to say," Olivia said. "I wasn't going to say it," Zayn scoffed. Olivia opened the door and lead him in. Zayn couldn't help it as his jaw dropped all the way to the center of the earth. "Wow."
Clothes were literally hung and shelved everywhere he turned. Gowns, blazers, suits, ties, necklaces, shorts, pants, jeans, t-shirts, etc. There was no end to all of it.
"Is this all for your taking?" Zayn asked.
"Of course not. It's just clothes we use for photo shoots and runway shows. Sometimes events. Interns and other staff members get to use these clothes on certain occasions. If we're lucky, we even get to take the extras home. Interns always have last pick, though."
"This is incredible."
"Do you want to take some? I can go ask Giada, our closet manager..."
"Oh, no, that's alright."
There was a long pause until Zayn meekly said, "Can I try some on?"
Olivia giggled. "Help yourself. You have until I get paged."
For the duration of two hours, all Zayn did was try on all the Men's clothes he found eye-catching. To entertain Olivia, he even wore a couple gowns. He still couldn't wrap his head around how he wasn't snogging her by now. He usually would if he was alone in a closet with a pretty, smart, and nice girl.
"You should totally get that gown. You look like Halle Berry in that one," Olivia laughed, clutching her stomach.
Zayn smirked at her. It wasn't until they heard her phone ringing.
"Hello? Cece? Oh, God, yes, I'll be there in 20."
"What is it?" Zayn asked, walking over to take the gown off.
"I have to get CeCe a non-whip mocha chocolate latte with a sprinkle of sugar, cinnamon and a dash of salt."
"Is that her usual?" Zayn smirked.
"No. It's much more longer than that, but this is her usual when she's super moody. Must be in the middle of a crisis. Probably can't figure out which model she wants to fire or something."
Zayn scoffed.
"You scoff too much," Olivia stated.
"I can scoff as much as I want," Zayn said.
She rolled her eyes. "Come on, we have to get her the latte, and fast."
