Jenna told me that her aunt doesn’t like the Save Rock and Roll album that much because a) She likes the pre-hiatus stuff better b) It’s way too pop for her, and this was my response:

Uh yeah it’s been what 4 years since the start of hiatus? Of course they’re gonna sound different. They’re getting older, they’re changing, they’re trying new things. It’d get boring if all the albums were the same fuckin thing right? And they all branched out and did they’re own projects during hiatus and learned new things and they brought all those together and save rock and roll was born. Idk I think it was a fucking great comeback album and I like that it’s different then they’re pre hiatus stuff. The fact that it was so poppy just proves how brave the little babies are to try new shit and not give a fuck if people like it or not because they’re doing what they wanna do and they’re enjoying themselves. And there was a lot of bullshit in the past with people calling them sellouts because they changed their sound and you can tell that that meant a lot to them because they wrote a song about it and addressed it in a music video. And like certain crowds would shun them so and they felt like they didn’t have any specific place where they belonged or fit in so they like created their own genre and did their own shit and then came back a fucking saved rock and roll. The fact that fall out boy can appeal to basically everyone is one of the things that makes them so great. Like, they don’t live simply to please the emo/punk/rocknroll/whatever the fuck you are scene, they’re just making good music, which they’re doing a pretty damn good job of I mean dude, they saved rock and roll.
