I have a theory.

Witch died to protect Edens Zero. In last chapter Hermit wonders why were the shining stars created?

I think Ziggy created each of them specifically to protect the crew of Edens Zero at a certain point. That includes Valkyrie finding and raising Homura. It also means Ziggy knew at least some of them were going to die. Maybe he actually told them his full plan and they willingly agreed to it before erasing their memories.

EZ Chapter 180: Operation Planet Ether

The more Edens Zero progresses Rebecca's involvement in Shiki's life gets bigger and bigger.

Rebecca was such a huge part of Ziggy's life. For a long time the only thing he knew about being a human was that he was friends with her.

And yet

AND YET

In all of their past encounters he has shown no signs of that. He barely acknowledges her and only when it relates to Shiki.

In the flashbacks even when he lost his memories he still had some fondness for her. He wanted to see her alive.

But now in the present he is so apathetic to her. I just don't get that. There is probably a lot more to the story that we don't know and maybe something happened.

The more "answers" we get more questions I have.

Edens zero spoilers ahead

It is one thing to read theories about shiki and Ziggy being the same person but it's completely different to actually see it happen. Now that it's confirmed I want to speculate a bit.

Rebecca has seen two different visions of alternate futures and one thing that was constant in both of them was Shiki. It is extremely likely that both of them are part of the same timeline. The same timeline where Ziggy is from.

Even though they haven't shown who the woman is, it is most likely going to be Rebecca although since we don't have any confirmation of that there could be another twist.

Shiki and Rebecca's respective ether gear is very compatible with each other. Fairy Tail has something called unison raid where two people can merge their powers and the end result is something far stronger than either party would have been able to achieve on their own. If you want to have the power to manipulate time, space and even reality itself Shiki and Rebecca are ideal candidate for that. Just a thought.

I also think that it's likely that Ziggy intentionally took his younger self into past and possibly Rebecca and her mother as well. Rebecca's mother might even be able to time travel and she might have even helped Ziggy.

One last thing I wanna add, it's very likely that when Ziggy told Shiki to never let go a friend who would cry for you, he was specifically talking about Rebecca.
