Carsko Vino with a View At Vinska Galerija Vukoje, Trebinje

Vukoje’s Carsko Vino (“Imperial Wine”) 2012 from Eastern Herzegovina 97% Žilavka, 3% Bena (the latter is a pollinating variety) from a 2.5 hectares single vineyard of alluvional stones, at the confluence of rivers Trebnjsica and Sušica, 11 km East of the city of Trebinje. The vineyard was listed among those of “Imperial relevance” during the Austro-Hungarian rule, hence the name of the wine. Harvested in mid-November (however it’s a dry wine), golden on the eye. On the nose notes of yellow fruits: especially peach, also quince. Palate mostly mineral, salt and flint, a bit of oily feeling (acidity is good), almost ever lasting finish. In my personal view among world’s very best dry whites. 🇧🇦
