The other day I got the chance to shoot my friend Lauren. I've known Lauren for a long time, but we mostly only saw each other when mutual friends had get-togethers or went out on the town, so it was nice to spend time with her in a completely different kind of way.  

I remember one day I was lamenting to Lauren and my friend Mel about this person I knew who was kind of annoying me and being like, "Well they're only twenty-three, so they're just being a 23-year-old." And Lauren said, "I'm twenty-three." And I literally did not believe her. I had known her for so long and had no idea she was so young; which says a lot about the kind of person she is. The woman has a knowingness about her. She has well-established opinions and morals and never takes shit or shies away from speaking her mind.

Lauren has modelled before, and she's amazing. But I didn't want her to model for me, I just wanted to take her picture. I like a lot of the pictures we took, including this one, which I love because, like the trained dancer she is, she can't help but point her toes.  

She's a bad ass, and although I really liked a lot of the pictures we took, I don't think I took the one I was looking for. The one that is Lauren™. I'll just have to take her picture again one day.
