After all the research I’ve done on the Zimmerman case (where a 28-y.o mixed-race Hispanic man shot a 17-y.o African American boy), I still cannot believe that Zimmerman got away free of any charges.
He ripped someone off their future just because his victim “looks black” and had his hand in his waistband.
Sure, you can argue that it was self-defense, and sure, his neighborhood wasn’t the safest one around, but again, the struggle right before the gun shot, the neighbors’ calls to 911 reporting the incident (some of the recordings had loud screams calling for help)... the self-defense argument seems to be very weak at best.
And then he had to go and make a statement in here saying that “Had I have had a fraction of thought that I could have done something differently, acted differently so that both of us could have survived, then I would have heavier weight on my shoulders.”
He has “no regrets” about killing a teenager, who could easily be any African-American high schooler in the United States. I’m sorry if this sounds like I’m whining about someone else’s government which I have no rights to complain about but this man has been reported by his girlfriend due to an assault and estranged wife due to a threat from him, and on top of that he shot a seventeen-year-old who had just walked out of 7-Eleven, holding a can of Arizona Iced Tea, and had his hoodie up because it was raining all because “he looks black.”
Sounds like a very free world we’re living in.
