Welcome to "Oversound - A Voltron Musical Zine"!
I've always wanted to do a zine, since I learned about them on Tumblr, but I thought it was too ambitious and honestly, really demanding. Well, of course I still think that, but in a more positive way: it could be a challenge to face, and, c'mon, I won’t be alone! (Right? Pls don't abandon me.)
Okay, emotional speeches aside, I'm here to announce the opening of this project, a Ezine (meaning it'll be digital and free), and to explain it a little more.
Oversound will be about, you guessed it, music: I chose this subject because well, I love it, and I myself am a musicist- I play the piano and the ukulele. So we, you participants and I, will represent our beloved Voltron characters in an AU (Alternate Universe) playing any instruments you know and can think of- even the rarest of them all! (And, of course, singers are included too.) They could be in a band, in an orchestra, playing alone, playing as a couple, playing at school, in a bar.... anywhere! Use your imagination and I'm sure, thanks to your work, this Zine'll be WONDERFUL.
To reply to all the questions you surely still have, under here I wrote a little FAQ! If, after reading it, you still are confused, please feel free to contact me here on Tumblr (through private messages or ask box), or write an e-mail to [email protected]! Thanks guys :)
FAQ
Will it be free?
Yes! It's a Ezine, so it'll be digital, PDF and free to read for everyone, you won't have to pay anything. I wanted to start doing something no-profit, since it's my first time, and I want every fan to be able to see your amazing work. ♥
Who can join?
Anyone! I won't do selections, because I know how frustrating can be when you apply to a lot of zines and you always receive a no as an answer. If you are an artist or a writer (and maybe cosplayers? I'm still deciding), please feel free to apply: it's not about skills, talent, fame, it's about passion and love for Voltron and music! The only thing I will ask you is PLEASE apply if you think you really can commit until the end.
What's the schedule?
I decided to open mod applications first, because I'll need help with Tumblr, Discord and organization in general- more or less, these will open from the end of June to the beginning of July. They'll be short because, unlike participants, I WILL select just a few of you depending on various facts and also because I won't need a lot of people. Instead, the participants applications will open for September I believe, so for now you can relax and just wait for more updates! (If you don't want to be a mod)
If I want to be a mod, can I also participate in the Zine as an Artist/Writer?
Yes! You can, of course.
Can I join for both roles?
You can, but please do so ONLY if you know for sure you can complete both of your works in time.
Does this Zine allow ships?
I was unsure, but... well, why not? So yes, if you want to draw a ship, do it! (But please, remember that is not the main focus of the Zine).

Legendary Christmas is a fan-made christmas centric zine that focuses on voltron legendary defender.
Legendary Christmas es un libro de ilustraciones hecho por fans, con temática navideña, donde se nos presenta diversas situaciones de los personajes del universo de voltron. No queremos limitarnos a los paladines. Puede ser con cualquier personaje que quieras, inclusive alguna ship pero que se mantenga a todo publico .
Who’s Involved?
Ahora mismo, solo tenemos tres moderadores, que somos de México Y también, estamos buscando a 39 grandiosos artistas, que gusten participar en este Fanzine!! En especial, si son latinoamericanos, queremos dar la oportunidad de ser parte en este fanzine.
Right now, we have 3 official mods. And, we are looking for 39 wonderful artists, all can participate but we want to give a chance to all the latam fandom to contribute in this fanzine!

Applications are CLOSED!! At this time we will not receive any more requests! Thanks to the +100 people who signed up. Y’all are amazing! ♥ Now is time for the artists selection and we’re so excited! We’ll be sending the E-mails with the results until November 10th.

Who is running this zine?
Por ahora solo somos dos personas, @thorshi y @aquarol-kun, ambos de México, siempre habíamos querido realizar un proyecto como este. Y no solo queremos centrarnos en voltron, sino mas adelante organizar para otros fandoms. En nuestro caso es la primera vez que no estamos lanzando y comprometernos en un proyecto como este, uno de nosotros tiene experiencia por haber participado en varios fanzine, así que no estamos tan perdidos.
Y también, estamos buscando a 39 grandiosos artistas, que gusten participar en este Fanzine!! En especial, si son latinoamericanos, queremos dar la oportunidad de ser parte en este fanzine.

Cualquier artista se puede unir, no importa que estilo tengas, queremos darle mas prioridad a artistas latinoamericanos, tenemos planeado que sean 39 artistas, pero si notamos que hay mas demanda, podríamos abrir mas espacios.

Is this a psychical or digital zine?
Estamos considerando las dos opciones, pero nos interesa mas la impresa.

When will applications open?
Las aplicaciones abrirán el 1ero de Noviembre y cerrarán el 8 del mismo mes.
Applications are planned to open on November 1st and will close on November 8th.
Will artists receive a copy of the zine and merch?
Cada artista recibirá dos copias, depende de la cantidad que se venda, más un presente por haber participado.

What are the specs of the zine?
Se tiene planeado que sea tamaño media carta, las ilustraciones serán entregadas en 300dpi formato tiff o jpg, en CMYK. Estamos considerando 35 a 40 artistas. El libro final deberá ser de 45 páginas, incluyendo agradecimientos y créditos a los artistas.
The zine will be in 5.5in by 8.5in, at 300dpi, in CMYK format and digital zine
It will feature around 43-45 pages ( which may increase depending on interest ) and approx. 35-40 artists
