Feeling good

Hunk has always loved jazz, and he felt so lucky when he found Shiro to play with him. After a while, Keith and Lance came along, and they formed a jazz group. With time, they became so famous their concerts are always full. They enjoy every second of every concert, like it’s the last one.

This is my second piece for the Oversound Zine - the cover for the Band Booklet. I felt so honored to be chosen for cover!

UPDATE ON OVERSOUND!

Hello everyone! Thanks for your patience! Mod Haryuu here. I’m finally able to give you all the info about Oversound, and yes, this comprehends applications info! Here you’ll find all you want to know about this zine. Since I find it easy to understand, this post is structured like a back-and-forth. In case you still have doubts or questions after, as always, don’t hesitate to contact us! 

When will applications open? 

Applications will open the 10th of September (both writers and artists).

So, everyone can enter?

Yes! It’s still open to anyone (who respects the rules, of course). To make things easier for us, though, we decided to divide the zine in booklets, based on three genres: Single, Duo and Band. You’ll be able to express preferences on which booklet you want to take part in, but there is no 100% certainty you’ll end up where you hoped. (Depends on how many people want to go where) Don’t worry, this will be explained better later, when we’ll open applications!

What’s the schedule?

Here you’ll find the zine schedule, the specifications for both writers and artists and the rules! I made a separate page so it’s easier to find it.

 Must writers have a beta?

Having a beta is mandatory, but if you don’t know how to find it you can reach out to betas on the discord server (there will be a channel for it), also you can ask us mods to help you, so no worries!

What about the covers for the zine?

Great question, imaginary person I’m talking to. (why am i like this) Unlike participants, cover artists will be selected. A form just for them will be published in the same time of the other “normal” form, but there will be selections. 

Are OCs accepted?

Yes and no. They can’t be protagonists, since this is a zine about Voltron characters, but you can use OCs as a “background”; example, if you need to draw a crowd for a concert, go for it. If someone wants to take a photo with Singer!Lance because they’re a big fan, of course! Things like that.

Guys! Tomorrow, 10th of September, APPLICATIONS WILL FINALLY OPEN!!! 

I’m so excited and I hope you are as well. Tomorrow I’ll publish both forms for Writers/Artists and Cover Artists, so keep an eye on this blog! If you are interested PLEASE consider to apply, it’d be amazing! To check all the info, you’ll find links in our bio (schedule, Q&A, mods...) or check our last post :)

Welcome to "Oversound - A Voltron Musical Zine"!

I've always wanted to do a zine, since I learned about them on Tumblr, but I thought it was too ambitious and honestly, really demanding. Well, of course I still think that, but in a more positive way: it could be a challenge to face, and, c'mon, I won’t be alone! (Right? Pls don't abandon me.) 

Okay, emotional speeches aside, I'm here to announce the opening of this project, a Ezine (meaning it'll be digital and free), and to explain it a little more. 

Oversound will be about, you guessed it, music: I chose this subject because well, I love it, and I myself am a musicist- I play the piano and the ukulele. So we, you participants and I, will represent our beloved Voltron characters in an AU (Alternate Universe) playing any instruments you know and can think of- even the rarest of them all! (And, of course, singers are included too.) They could be in a band, in an orchestra, playing alone, playing as a couple, playing at school, in a bar.... anywhere! Use your imagination and I'm sure, thanks to your work, this Zine'll be WONDERFUL. 

To reply to all the questions you surely still have, under here I wrote a little FAQ! If, after reading it, you still are confused, please feel free to contact me here on Tumblr (through private messages or ask box), or write an e-mail to [email protected]! Thanks guys :)

FAQ 

Will it be free? 

Yes! It's a Ezine, so it'll be digital, PDF and free to read for everyone, you won't have to pay anything. I wanted to start doing something no-profit, since it's my first time, and I want every fan to be able to see your amazing work. ♥

Who can join? 

Anyone! I won't do selections, because I know how frustrating can be when you apply to a lot of zines and you always receive a no as an answer. If you are an artist or a writer (and maybe cosplayers? I'm still deciding), please feel free to apply: it's not about skills, talent, fame, it's about passion and love for Voltron and music! The only thing I will ask you is PLEASE apply if you think you really can commit until the end. 

What's the schedule? 

I decided to open mod applications first, because I'll need help with Tumblr, Discord and organization in general- more or less, these will open from the end of June to the beginning of July. They'll be short because, unlike participants, I WILL select just a few of you depending on various facts and also because I won't need a lot of people. Instead, the participants applications will open for September I believe, so for now you can relax and just wait for more updates! (If you don't want to be a mod) 

If I want to be a mod, can I also participate in the Zine as an Artist/Writer? 

Yes! You can, of course. 

Can I join for both roles? 

You can, but please do so ONLY if you know for sure you can complete both of your works in time. 

Does this Zine allow ships? 

I was unsure, but... well, why not? So yes, if you want to draw a ship, do it! (But please, remember that is not the main focus of the Zine). 

Sooo yeah these are all the questions I could think of! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns. I'm here to listen to you!!
