You would think a group as metallicy and attractive as the bee genus Augochloropsis would not be taxonomically mysterious. But, you would be wrong. Its....a mess. We know, for example, there are new species of Augochloropsis sitting right there in museum drawers and that the parties involved (the bee species I am talking about) are common. But yet they languish...the handful of elderly taxonomists (literally a handful and literally elderly, (ok I can think of semi-not-elderly Canadian taxonomists, but try to find an American taxonomic youth )). Anyway here is A. anonyma. Nice southern coastal plain/florida species. And...probably another species along the coast based on some general evidence. How sad we don't even know what's going on.
