Ok so! First a little side note I just got into kirby seriously so a lot of what I know is very second hand, right? Luckily I have my BFs Lucas and Chris to go insane with.
So I Played Forgotten Lands and fixated solely on how much shit kirby had to go through in that game. And that's like a running theme in kirby games somethings happening kirby has to save the day its kirby yknow. But like following anime cannon kirby is like a fucking baby.
In a vein similar to how steven universe use to be a happy go lucky kid who grew up and started to suffer from the trauma of his adventures the AU is the same jist. Kirby having gotten older starts to suffer from a lot of repressed childhood trauma.
Hes always been the hero and if something bad happens again he needs to be the hero. That's his purpose and if he doesn't fulfil it then he's of no use to anyone. He wont open up to his friends because he doesn't want to weigh them down because hes suppose to be strong.
This worry that things will go bad at any moment puts him on edge and even strains his trust given how kirby has been backstabbed before. Can he really trust anyone? Is everyone out to get him?
He neglects his needs in this paranoia taking little time to rest, relax, or even eat. Yes planet popstar citizens have taken notice that kirby is not as bubbly and carefree as he use to be. They're worried but their concern for him only upsets him further because they need to worry about potential danger and not him he's fine (he is not fine).
All in all kirby angst really is super easy to explore and Im going ape with it.
