Ramadan Diary DAY 2 :

Reporting from the outside, the sun is burning hot , shop windows are closed, human life is barely noticeable, yes that is ramadan for you. You can almost say that the city is empty except for a few people walking down the streets . Usually they prefer to either stay inside or stay inside lol we Algeria people are known for our heat/hunger intolerance jk jk . Well i had a few errands to run low key a language course, that is why i went out . After that we went to this place where they sell ZLABIA #traditionalAlgerianSweet it is the Mecca of zlabia ( yummy i am drooling just thinking about it ) i was super excited and after that visited some relatives and went back home . You know when you plan so many things but end up doing absolutely nothing yeah i tend to do that quite often , i planned to cook something fancy and stuff , but ended up vrashing to bed as soon as i stepped home .

Zlabia in Tunisia. Zlebia or zlabia (زلابية) is a type of pastry eaten in northwest Africa, e.g. Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya. Ingredients include flour, yeast, yoghurt, and sugar, mixed with water and commonly two seeds of cardamom (oil for the crackling). This sweet was cherished by the Jewish population of Algeria. Zalābiya are fried pastries including types similar to straight donuts around other Arab countries like Yemen, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. Zalābiya mushabbaka are latticed fritters made in discs, balls, and squares, dipped in clarified honey perfumed with rose water, musk, and camphor. Zalabiya funiyya is a sponge cake version cooked in a special round pot on a trivet and cooked in a tannur. They are often stick shaped and are eaten year-round, including in expat communities in France, where they're especially popular during Ramadan.
