DOBRO ZLATOROG CEVAPCICIO LASKO PIVO 🐐🍻🇸🇮🚴🏼♀️
gotta love small town european flea markets bc you can casually find a well-preserved gorgeous book that's over 100 years old that's about a traditional alp tale from slovenia
As an additional note, on the northern face of Mount Prisojnik, it seems the face known as Ajdovska Deklica, or the Heathen Maiden, can be seen. This face is that of a prophetic maiden (sometimes said to be a nymph or forest spirit), and it is said that she once predicted that a newborn child would one day kill Zlatorog. Her siblings, angry with this prophecy, cursed her to turn to stone after she returned to her home.
I’m not sure where April went exactly, but at some point I drew a Goldhorn (Zlatorog, in Slovene) after flipping through some old mythology books of mine. I can’t seem to get enough of drawing deery things lately.
Zlatorog is a white chamois buck with golden horns that is said to have lived on Mount Triglav, in Slovenia.
The Zlatorog, also known as the Goldhorn, is a legendary animal from Slovenian folklore. Said varyingly to be a chamois buck or Alpine ibex, it was believed to live on Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia.
Legend tells of a young man who sought to kill the animal and use its horns to win the heart of the woman he loved. He shot the Zlatorog, but before it died, it ate a magical flower that grew on the mountain, and with renewed energy, charged the hunter off the mountain to his death.

Welcome to the Six of Swords, featuring the Zlatorog, a legendary creature with a peculiar ability. When being hunted the Zlatorog will go to the highest mountain peaks where hunters cannot follow (and usually fall to their deaths or are pushed by the creature in question). His blood has the curious property of growing red flowers which can heal and give life force back to whomever consumes them. So here on the six of swords we have a sad creature, it’s been wounded and moved a long way, but he is on his way to recovery.
