Yep! Your Asks are open now! 🎉 Glad I could help out.
If you want to start out with an actual question - are there any alien biology fun facts you haven't had the opportunity to address in your fics but still want to share? Because it's all so fascinating and I'd love to pick your brain about it! :D
Ough man what is there to share that wouldnt be spoilery hnng....
Magolor has implied Halcandrans have nine lives. This is actually a sort of "old wive's tale" in universe, kind of like it is in ours. Nine is actually the average.
Magolor could be as little as two regenerations, meaning he's used both his up now :)
But there are legends of certain Halcandran rulers before the Fall going up to thirteen.
The only way to know is to, well, die. It's also hereditary, but Magolor doesn't know what number his mother was at when she died fully. She said her mother was at ten when she died fully. Gloria, Magolor's mom, was at five when they last saw each other.
Magolor's last words to her were "I'll find you again." They both expected to see each other again. They could live for centuries, they were both smart and determined, never mind the fact they were both being sold to different people, ofc they would see each other again!
As for the regeneration itself. Remember how I said healing magic had a tendency to collect in the brain, because it's the most magic-intensive organ? The regeneration works off this process, essentially taking all available magic, making it heal, and shoving it up into the head. The body is nothing but a vessel for the brain, no? It's essentially the brain getting rid of all the nonessentials -- aka everything not It.
Aka a severed head cannibalizing the body when the body can no longer sustain itself.
Yeah, Kirby wasn't the one who really killed Magolor. That was the force of the crown's magic. All Kirby did was make Mags regenerate early. That's why he kept his scars. A proper regen would have given him a clean slate of a body with all his memories intact. Instead he gets a bunch of scars and bits of his memory gone. The crown was fucking with his head, too, which didn't help.
Will Magolor get a proper regen this time around? Hope so, cos it might be his last if he's unlucky :))) he knows this too, kinda like all people know the average death age is 73 but we could just die at 22.
How does the head get the body back when it runs out of magic, though? It's basically a reconstruction based on available materials. You know how in full metal alchemist, Edward starts goin on all "carbon so and so grams. Water such and such liters" it's like that. You have to have the available materials handy, or the regen won't work and you'll just die.
Remember how Halcandrans are carnivores?
That's why Magolor Soul started summoning random enemies, to his own detriment. Even if it gave Kirby copy abilities, he wanted other bodies to eat use when it came time to regenerate. Strong ones. If he didn't have the right materials, he would die, and Kirby was too magical to use, so he chose to do that knowing Kirby would take the abilities and force him to regen. A choice between dying and losing, but living, wasn't a choice.
The ones that did escape Kirby, didn't escape Magolor.
