Thank you so much for these questions! ❤︎ 🥰 ⟶ Zodiac Headcanons
> what is your muse's most arrogant behavior?
That Nym thinks she always knows better. She has a good feeling for the bigger picture, and the fact that she is often able to predict certain outcomes or stir things in the direction she wants them to go only makes her more arrogant in that regard. She already starts questioning the adults when she is barely able to read and annoys her septa, the maester, her mother, father, and even the king with her ideas about how things should be handled, without actually knowing everything.
And that is kind of the issue. She can see patterns and sense when something is wrong, but she does not always know the full truth behind it. She does not know about the prophecy, or the exact reason her mother and Alicent are estranged, or that Laenor was fine with Rhaenyra having a lover. Once she gets new knowledge, she is fully able to adapt, but some things do not even cross her mind, especially when she is younger. (She's too precious for a long time before she becomes brutally disillusioned.)
She becomes better at noticing what she is missing during the three years she spends on Driftmark with Baela and Rhaenys, learning to look beyond her first assumptions and question her own conclusions but still thinks she knows better most of the time.
> what is a cherished memory your muse holds close?
The first that came to my mind is the one where Laenor took her dragonriding for the first time on Seasmoke, when he was actually there for once. They flew as long as she wanted, above the sea and Driftmark, and she was so happy because she was flying, her father was there, and for once she had him all to herself and he seemed to be happy too.
> how does your muse deal with obsession?
That was really hard to answer because the question is so open, but I’ll go with how she deals with things or people she becomes obsessed with and hope that fits: So Nym can absolutely be obsessive. Her whole view on justice and ethics is its own kind of obsession. Once she sets her mind on something, it is nearly impossible to change it. To some degree, only Jace, Rhaenys, and later Aemond are people she will actually listen to when they question her, and even then it doesn’t mean she will stray from the path she has chosen.
I think her flaw of believing she knows better only makes that worse as I feel like when she is obsessed with something, she starts losing the outside perspective, and with it the ability to look at things fully rationally. She still thinks she is being logical, but she is still biased. So yeah she is obsessed with her goals, with her morals, with the idea of justice she has built for herself in the years. She is also very much capable of obsession in a more personal way. Her hatred for Daemon becomes something she holds onto just as tightly, and she is totally fixated on fixing things in her family, even if that comes at the cost of her own safety. Something I thing she picked up from her Grandfather but she actually tried to do something...
And then there is Aemond. She has been, in different ways, obsessed with him since they were children. But at least that is mutual.
> what is your muse most reckless decision ?
Nymaerya’s most reckless decision was agreeing to marry Aemond. She let her emotions take the lead, even if she tried to convince herself and everyone else that her main reason was the greater good, the possibility of mending things between their families. In truth, she was simply a young woman in love, and she knew she had already been lucky that Rhaenyra had not betrothed her to someone else already, unlike her brothers, which is what made the choice possible in the first place.
And it is not like she was not warned. Everyone on her side of the family tried to talk her out of it. Even Corlys, to some extent, had his doubts. They did not trust Aemond, not in the way she did, and they feared more than anything that this would place her in a dangerous position she would not be able to control, surrounded by the Greens in the Red Keep and without any real support of her own.
And yet besides all of that, she chose it anyway. Even after her mother set strict conditions for Alicent and Aemond or the betrothal would be called off again, only dragging out the time of engagement unnecessarily long, which both Nym and Aemond grew to resent. Nym actively pushed for an earlier date, and in the end it only succeeded because Viserys grew more frail. She almost begged to have the wedding happen sooner so he could attend it, as he had been looking forward to it as well.
I really struggled to write down my thoughts for these questions, and I'm still not happy with them as I feel they lack something. But I suppose that's the limitation of writing in a language that isn't your own.
I also thought a lot about Nym and Rhaenyra's relationship again because of these questions. If Rhaenyra had been more honest with her daughter about certain things, everything could have been so different. Maybe I should think about an AU where that is the case. 😭
'I told you so' is one of Nym's most frequently used phrases, and Jace hates it when she says it. She used to say it a lot when they were young, but also at some point just to anger him. 🤭
I still have some asks open but I just need so long to think about these things. The rest will follow soon!
