The estates of the hashiras were a place of refuge after slaying demons day after day. A place where no demons could enter and live to tell the tale. That's how it was supposed to be.
—
Tonight was one of those empty quiet nights around the Socorro estate. One that felt too quiet for this particular hashira. Zohakuten sat cross-legged next to Amora, who was restless in her futon. The girl had just given birth to his son a few days before, and it had taken a toll on her body. Since then, he has refused to leave her side, faithfully sitting by her.
His son, Bane, rested in his arms, healthy and hateful. The boy was a spitting image of Zohakuten, with the same facial features, hair, horns and the same scornful expression that shouldn’t belong on a normal baby’s face. But the little brat seemed to already dislike his father, thrashing and screaming whenever Zohakuten held him these past couple days. However, as his mother tried to rest postpartum, he stayed quiet. His attachment and love for his mother showed despite his inability to do anything.
Zohakuten felt the corners of his lips twitch up for a second, staring at the child he had created. He had created a new life without blood, without the approval of his lord. He was a traitor in a sense, a traitor along with Amora. But he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Amoras hand reached over to his, gently pulling it closer to her. He squeezed her hand as she looked at him with those lamb-like eyes. For the first time in his 200-ish years of living, the hate that was his soul settled, replaced by an unfamiliar warmth. This was his family and he’d protect them if it was the last thing he ever did.

oof this sucked but I tried my best🥲 This also came out a lot more fluffy than anticipated. Usually they’re both trying to take each other out.
