It's time for a zombie apocalypse themed ask! So you're a mad scientist (or a regular scientist) and have been bitten by a zombie. By empirical analysis, you have been able to deduce that zombie bites take five days to turn you. You have thus locked yourself in your laboratory with a team of five others. These are the people who will help you find a cure. You only have five days to do it. On the sixth day, you're dead. Who is on your team? (Note: nobody can use supernatural powers- ex. magick)
Has it taken me this long to figure out the five characters who I’d bring with me?
5. Adrian Raines - Not counting his vampiric abilities, Adrian has proved to be quite a scientist and researcher himself. Sure, he may have had scientists working under him to develop the formula that gave him extra powers in Book 1, but it was under his supervision, knowledge, and expertise. More so, he’s the one in Book 2 who works on testing the First’s vial of blood, conducting the experiments to confirm it was what they were looking for. He would be helpful in potentially isolating and targeting the cause of what causes the eventual turning.
4. Ethan Ramsey - Ethan is supposed to be one of the world’s best doctors, right? No brainer here. He would work tirelessly to find the correct balance of whatever he and the others need to counteract the zombie outbreak. As shown with Banerji, he just needs the starting blocks to concoct the cure, but since there is no emotional attachment, he would be able to work efficiently and not be clouded by his feelings or expectations.
3. Silas Prescott - Yes, you read that right. Before Prescott was hellbent on trying to take over Northbridge, he was also a brilliant scientist, researcher, and inventor, right? Coming from a different background than the other two would bring in valuable insight in experimentation and testing. He would definitely be intrigued to help solve this mystery, if only to have it in his control to use for his benefit in the future. Which leads me to the next spot…
2. Katherine from Nightbound - An unusual inclusion, but Katherine has one purpose in this room: to be hired muscle. Everything is a job and she is clinical in her execution. She’s there to keep an eye on Prescott, just in case he gets any ideas of turning on the project (either by restraint or by deadly means is her call). She is also there just in case the team is not successful and she’d need to put my reanimated corpse down.
1. Beckett Harrington - He’s number one for a reason. Not only is his presence purely self indulgent, but his knowledge from both the attuned and tuneless world would be priceless. He may not be able to use magick here, but he knows mixtures, tinctures, and a ton of other stuff that would be beneficial to the research. But his main purpose of being here? For the sex and cuddles on my last five days on Earth. We’d be holed up in the other room, living my best life with Beckett for a glorious 120 hours, indulging in fun stuff. Go big or go home, right 😆😆
Honorable mentions: Olivia Montoya, Everett Rourke (it was between him and Silas but I couldn’t remember if Rourke was also a scientist), Dax and Hazel from Hero, Sloane Washington, Hex and Whitlock from TC&TF, and Raj Bhandarkar (just for the food aspect 😂)
I initially thought of all the doctors and scientists in all the series, putting them on the list depending on their experience and expertise. Obviously Beckett was on this list because if no cure is found, then at least I’d be going out with a bang (get it? 😏) Ramsey was the second to be added because he’s a genius and internal medicine/solving medical stuff is supposed to be his thing. I had Rourke on here but I couldn’t remember if it was originally him or his team of scientists who did all the work, so I went with Prescott. I was deciding between Katherine and Nik as the bodyguard/assassin type, but Nik is too emotional and I’d be confident in Katherine’s abilities. Adrian was the last one and a surprise, but bloodwork and supernatural stuff is right up his alley.
I think this is a good mixture of personalities, as well. If everyone in the room was a doctor/scientist, it would have been the equivalent of too many cooks in the kitchen. Each person has their own area of knowledge and would bring insight from where they’re coming from.
Meanwhile, I’d be in the other room doing the most important thing of all: Beckett 😆😆😆
Thanks for the ask @lady-kato!! This was a lot of fun to think about and I love your questions!!! It might take me awhile to get back, but only because you’re making me think instead of my usual shit and uWu Beckett posts LOL!!
