Drinks of Doom: Zombie Cure 🧟
Do you feel like a complete zombie in the morning? Has a busy day left you moaning and groaning for a pick-me up? When just a regular cup of coffee isn’t enough, this shot-in-the-dark with cream may be just the thing to perk up even the dead!
You can use whatever ground coffee you’d like. I highly recommend a flavor from Bones Coffee Co.: the perfect coffee brand for Halloween! They offer a variety of defrightful flavors (though I don’t blame you if the price scares you a bit). To match the zombie theme of this coffee, I suggest Army of Dark Chocolate, though I personally used Jacked O’Lantern because it was what I had - and pumpkin spice is one of THE Halloween flavors. It lends itself well to this Zombie Cure.
I must confess that I do not have an espresso machine. But even without one, you can still make espresso with espresso powder which you can find in the baking aisle (or hopefully the coffee aisle as well) of supermarkets. Just mix 1 tablespoon of espresso powder with 4 tablespoons hot water and BAM! Instant espresso.
Disclaimer and warning: Just like any other drug, caffeine can be dangerous and you can overdose! One shot-in-the-dark on occasion is perfectly safe - just don’t make it a habit to drink shot-in-the-darks on a regular basis!
Zombie Cure:
1 tablespoon instant espresso powder
4 tablespoons hot water
Freshly brewed coffee
Half-and-half
Measure out 1 tablespoon of instant espresso powder and add to mug. Stir in 4 tablespoons of hot water and pour in your fresh coffee. But leave room for cream!
Stir in your half-and-half and enjoy!
Zombie Coffee
Went out to meet my friend who came back from visiting the states and he brought me to Zombie Coffee in Hongdae.
Man, the coffee there is just sooooo good. Not like that shitty burnt coffee or the terrible syrup tasting crap, this was great. I even tried my friends black coffee (which i usually hate and tastes burnt) but it was really good!
We had a great and funny chat about life and future plans and he brought back tarot cards from the states because he's really interested in the cards/meanings and stuff. He did two readings for me which were spot on and it was so cute to see his reaction since I was the first person he did a reading for ahahah.
I definitely recommend people to go there and enjoy. They only have a couple of tables which is good because it wont be crowded and the bathrooms are just amazing :)
Zombie Coffee in Hongdae is worth a visit, not only for its name. They roast the coffee beans themselves, and serve some good quality coffee.
(but if you're more into coffee drinks (read Starbucks) you should probably go to... Starbucks. (obviously! ...well, or Caffé Bene, Angel-in-us, Tom n Toms, A twosome pl..zZzzZzz... you get what I mean)
Oh, and it's close to the Eat Your Kimchi-studio, so it's worth a visit if you are nearby.
