Drinks of Doom: Poison Apple ☠
A note: don’t be like me and serve in a rocks glass - this drink is meant for a coupe glass! Also content warning, this is another cocktail!
There’s no shortage of alcoholic Halloween drink ideas. This one came about as I did some research on what drinks I could make for this series - both with and without alcohol. The idea of a “Poison Apple” drink with Fireball caught my attention and so I made my own - albeit in another style with some different ingredients. For those who enjoy whiskey and Fireball, this is a good one. Personally, I’d prefer spiced rum instead, and omitting the brown sugar simple syrup, but that’s just me.
I thought up adding brown sugar simple syrup as a method of sweetening the whiskey, and to give it more of a fall flavor. But combined with the apple juice, I thought it left the drink too sweet. But others out there may like it!
At the very least, I tried it and I know what I prefer.
I will say this tho - it’s strong! So Fireball really is a good spirit for a poison-apple themed cocktail, cause boy will you feel the effects!
Poison Apple:
2 oz apple juice or apple cider
1 shot Fireball
~ 1 oz brown sugar simple syrup (optional)
2 drops Orange blossom water
Sprinkle of cinnamon, for garnish
Chill coupe glass in freezer
Combine 1 tablespoon brown sugar with 1 tablespoon water. Stir and microwave in 30 minute increments until sugar dissolves and syrup forms. Watch your syrup to make sure it doesn’t boil.
Chill syrup and let it cool.
Measure and pour in apple juice, Fireball, syrup and lastly the two drops of orange blossom water. Shake to combine and until chilled, about 15 seconds.
Drain and pour into chilled coupe glass. Sprinkle cinnamon on top to garnish.
