How do you get motivated to write? What inspires you?

Omg Sruthi I was literally just about to send you an ask same brain (thank you sm for the ask!)

For fanfic it’s honestly the fandom. I’ve been in a writing slump for YEARS and this year I decided to join the atla fandom and start writing fic to get my mojo back and it’s helped tremendously. y’all are so smart and talented and you come up with such good hcs and metas and it’s just a really generative environment for me. 

As for motivation, well, that’s a little more difficult. I’m very good at the ideas generation part of writing fic, not so great at the butt in chair part (as you might be able to tell from the fact that I have this week off and I was planning to spend it writing the next chapter of my Avatar Sokka fic but instead I am bingewatching lok and screaming about Jetru on main, and on top of that now I have 2 more wips) honestly for me, creating an update schedule and telling myself I’m going to stick to it is what motivates me, bc I don’t want to break my streak of putting out a chapter every 2 weeks at this point in the game. But we’ll see!

Maiko and Mailee!

Ah maiko... my og ship.  I just love the way they grew up together and then grew apart and finally found each other in the end, and something about seeing them so canonically happy together even when objectively neither is doing well just gets me every time.  (I love their platonic relationship too!  The Mai/Zuko friendship dynamic is unmatched)

Mailee: another great pairing!  I love the intrigue of Mai and Ty Lee navigating their ‘friendship’ with Azula and the way neither knows for sure if they can 100% trust the other, right up until the moment it’s shown that they absolutely can.  I think there’s so much potential there for them, especially after the series ends
