Joss Wheedon on Zombies
Crikey- I wasn't expecting that! Yesterday, Joss Wheedon catapulted himself unexpectedly into my good books by telling us all what he thought of Shitt Romney (the distinctly crapper of the two presidential candidates in the upcoming US election). Essentially, what he did was a spoof endorsement video of Romney designed, in fact, to take the piss out of him as much as possible. His opening gambit went something like this: "Romney is the kind of man this country needs. The kind of man who's unafraid to lead this country into the zombie apocalypse". He then went on to explain how escherton-inducing, backwards and outright stupid Romney's policies... all in terms of zombies.
I'd previously thought of Wheedon as a mediocre film director with a slightly-too-high reliance on explosions and a repressed, homoerotic obsession with very well muscled men. On mature consideration however, I have to give him the Secret Diary of an FA Award for Person I Most Underestimated This Decade. Wheedon's a surprisingly good satirist with a sound political mind capable of grasping the ramifications of dangerously regressive policies. Plus he likes zombies and his comedy-timing was spot on. Someone give him a spot on the Daily Show.
