Guess who gets to deflesh a snake next week!
It's me, the resident archaeologist in my friend group. I REALLY want the bones!
Just me and my bones taking over the upstairs lab.
Anyone know of good zooarchaeology/zoology online resources? I have this dream where someones 3d imaged a reference collection (that’ s not too much to ask right? ;))...
Today I found a newly hatched, newly deceased, bird on the sidewalk. And my immediate thought wasn’t “that’s unfortunate” or “I should avoid that” but “Oh my gosh!! It’s perfect!! I want to keep it!!”
Which. I a) have no need for a very small, very dead bird and b) have no way to prepare said bird.
Moral of the story: you take one archaeozoology class and spend eight months in a natural history museum and all of the sudden you want to impulsively collect dead animals.
Anyone have any good sources for dates of epiphyseal fusion for raccoons?
Better view of my totally brag worthy job on the teeth. Yes all of that in the tray was inside the snout. #archaeology #zooarch #sccccap #sccc #collectionsmanagement
Pretty proud of my cleaning job on this #deerskull. So much glue and bugs. #zooarch #archaeology #collectionsmanagement
