Brainstorming Zooble redesign (June 9th)
Ok, as fun as the alien Zooble idea is, I thought of something a little more coherent - unicorn-head Zooble. Like, still low-poly/geometric, mouth, mismatched eyes (maybe) but like, Zooble is like a chimera animal with mismatched parts? Still humanoid in shape because it's a 'body dysphoria' design.
I like the idea of Zooble + unicorn symbolism because it's like, Caine has this new human join the circus and it's a new exotic animal to 'tame'. A lot of the humans are broken by the circus, and Zooble is the only one to break the cycle, who won't be 'tamed'. It fits with Caine's ringmaster/circus theme (Ringmaster and circus animal) and it's a good metaphor for Caine and the humans. Humans, 'unicorns' are wonderful creatures that shouldn't be trapped inside a circus, and Caine is the Ringmaster making them feel trapped. Collecting and hoarding these humans like a human zoo. But also, like humans are entranced by unicorns, Caine also finds humans to be entrancing and beautiful in an otherworldly, incomprehensible way. I think in their human life though, Zooble was probably afraid of horses. 1, because I don't want to romanticise Zooble's form and erase the experience of body dysmorphia. And two, it creates a nice point of contrast with Ragatha, who loves horses. I can see that being an interesting interaction, especially if horses come up in an adventure down the line.
I'm still keeping the circus on the moon/meteor floating in 'space' though. That's a nice concept that I don't want to remove. The rest of the space theming isn't really necessary though.
What do you guys think?
EDIT: Forgot to add the obligatory "it's possible".

Zooble redesigned!!! Anyways, I did not change much about them as I kinda find it hard as they are always changing body parts. But things o did had was made their torso be like a skeleton ribcage and hips bc I thought look cool also made them have a piercing and spike chocker. Yes they have lot more piercings but I forgot to add them… oops! Also most of their body parts be more resemble animals bc the zoo part in their name and also I took inspiration from someone else done that, we steal what we like and put it in our art work >:) I did forget who the artist was.

Zooble redesign?
This is by no means a finished Zooble redesign, right now I'm just playing around with some ideas. But I do like unicorn-themed Zooble. It's a good direction, I think. I was thinking how I could explore/present Zooble's body dysmorphia without erasing/minimizing it, and I dunno, what about one of those horse toys? It's not quite the same as the mix-and-match removable parts, but it's still uncomfortable and body horror/dysmorphia adjacent. You could have a scene where Caine gives Zooble a box of optional 'accessories', but of course, none of those items actually help with the dysmorphia because it doesn't change Zooble's body in any meaningful way.
Idk, I'm still thinking about it. I might still go for a more humanoid design (but keep the unicorn head). What do you guys think?

Rezoobled: Zooble redesign
I wouldn't change much about Zooble's design, except for 2 things:
°The torso is a lot like a rock. Caine being the unstoppable force and Zooble being like "the immovable object". Zooble has a pretty solid/heavy personality, and I want the visual to reflect that. (The lines are a little too complex, but that's more or less how it should look).
°The torso is like a low-polygon shape. Why? 1) in Rezoobled, Zooble is an experienced gamer that knows how to 'break the game', clip through walls, exploit glitches, etc.
And 2) it's the only part of Zooble's body that is inflexible. Like a real rock. No squishing, no cartoon bending. It's just solid, whatever the circumstance.
°Half-way through the story, Zooble gets to change their torso from its bright colour to black. Black is Zooble's favourite colour; Caine isn't onboard at first because it clashes with the circus's toybox aesthetic. But after they argue, Caine regrets upsetting Zooble and limiting their autonomy. So Caine gifts the black torso to Zooble as a gift/olive branch. It isn't enough, of course, but it's a start.
Or...maybe I should start with canon Zooble's squishy bean-body, and *then* make the rock-torso a gift? Idk...what do you guys think? Might go that route actually. Because the rock-body is quite a departure, and it's a bigger sign of change/growth than simply changing its colour. Zooble grows more comfortable in their own body.
