Manual Zoom Study - Draw a real world item (small, no bigger than a coffee mug) on a large sheet. A zoomed in section of the first drawing on a second sheet. A further zoomed in section of that second drawing on a third sheet. Hindsight - Although the drawing of the entire truck is a favorite of mine, I cringe a bit when I look at these pieces, as I know they’re not proportioned as well as they could be. The wheels and tires aren’t rounded correctly, and they’re in severe need of an ellipse template. However, having been done freehand, they’re not the worst ever. Having used alcohol markers on a very absorbent paper, there is a terrible patchiness to the red sections, where the markers are clearly running out of ink, and start to lose their strength and vibrance. I think to eliminate the patchiness, it would have been better to use paint, but when I began the project, I didn’t take into account just how absorbent the paper was, nor how much red there was really going to be.
