the immediate aftermath was difficult for veronica, who mostly just wanted to move on. while she obviously did not relay the reality behind the previous events, she did have to divulge jd’s plan to authorities and unwillingly made herself into a hero and a martyr. she avoided that as much as she could but there’s only so much one could do in the wake of that.her senior year, veronica does metaphorically take the helm of westerburg. veronica had always strayed from taking any leadership roles but at this point she’s realized that if you want to make a change, you have to be the change. she’s more active in her community, she founds ‘westerburg outreach’ to help students who feel suicidal, who are having a hard time at home or at school, a place to feel heard. almost all of her energy goes into trying to make her school the nice place she always wanted it to be, and she does make a difference with that. she goes on to attend smith college and continues similar charity and community service efforts. she channels a lot of her emotions, most especially the unresolved feelings about jd, into her writing. to avoid thinking about her past, veronica avoids returning home, she avoids being alone for too long. she keeps herself busy despite the constant guilt she has knowing that she is going on her with her life and doing things that kurt, ram, heather, and jd can’t (because of her).the stress eventually catches up to her and veronica has an accidental overdose of sleeping pills in her junior year of college which finally places her in the care of a psychiatrist. while that does help a little alleviate some of her issues with her ptsd and other MI, she obviously never goes into the truth of what happened. therapy helps a fraction but veronica continues to avoid thinking about things or trying to make some kind of closure for herself.so, in general, the short answer would be that she doesn’t. she does as much as she can to make the world a better place in her own way, but that guilt and that trauma is something she never really faces. she constantly seeks out people that are similar to heather or jd despite not realizing it and that doesn’t help her at all.veronica lives a very successful life and does a lot for the world but she does it all while being completely wracked with guilt and while she does move on in a lot of ways, she never gets over it.
