as an arab, i’m so used to fan artists just whitewashing all of our key features from arab characters that when i see people draw kalim and jamil looking like, you know, us i get a little emotional ngl
I'm not Arab, but as a South Asian I feel this and I always appreciate it so much when other fan artists give Jamil and Kalim varying skin tones and protruding nose bridges, and noses that are not simply wee buttons or pointy. There's truly so much beauty in the variation and diversity of our ethnic features and skin tones that deserve to be celebrated, even if not necessarily the typical popular "anime art style" (I say this loosely though, because there's some japanese artists that DO draw diverse features and have distinct anime art styles, and do racial and ethnic features justice, it's just that it's not mainstream enough and hard to come by).
