Milton Lynxley only ever saw Pawbert as a failure and maybe a tool; destroying the original patent would never have changed that.
If he had stayed on Gary’s -and by extension; Judy and Nick’s- side; Pawbert would have been celebrated as a hero who bravely turned against his evil family to reveal Zootopia’s true history, instead he poisoned Judy, framed Gary, tried to strangle Nick, and tried to burn the patent.
And it was all for nothing; Nick & Judy survive, Gary is exonerated, and the Lynxleys (Lynxleies?) are put away on multiple counts of frame-up and attempted murder.
Pawbert is gonna spend the rest of his life hated by everybody he ever cared about. Gary & Judy might be willing to forgive him, but Nick never will, and his dad is probably planning his murder.
